Semi-sandbox mode?
Haven't played Factorio in a long time and I have it uninstalled now (not to mention writing this from my phone), but does it have a semi-sandbox mode? As in, not fully creative with everything free, but with every single recipe unlocked from the start without having to do research?

I still want to build factories to produce my things, but don't like research aspect of the game.

Open the console and enter:
/c game.player.force.research_all_technologies()
The first command needs to be entered a second time as a safety check (using console commands disables achievements for that play-through).

After that, you'll have everything (in 0.15/beta, this doesn't include technologies which have infinite levels).

What first command? There's only one!

I think he mean use /c on its own first, I don't use commands much so I am guessing

May I ask, what part of researching didn't you like? Because there's been a major overhaul with it.

All of the colors? or just one or two colors? Also, there is a mod called Creative Mode, it has a nice GUI for most if not all of the cheat commands. Along with a ton of items that could be usefull, if not to build a factory, to just have fun. :steamhappy:

As I've said, I'm not interested in full creative. Only in having all recipes unlocked from the start.

About sandbox. I was wondering if there was a way to still play a character while in sandbox?

I believe Creative Mode can give you a body, but I've not actually tried it.

/c game.player.character = game.player.surface.create_entity{name="player", position = {0,0}, force = game.forces.player}
Best run this immediately because it will spawn the player at the start and you probably don't want to have to walk halfway across the planet to get to the nearest train station.

This will create a character at the current position and also keep your inventory:
/c game.player.create_character()

Play freeplay instead. Use the research-all and/or cheat-mode commands if desired.

Sandbox is just freeplay with research-all, cheat-mode and no-character. Each of those features can be enabled or disabled individually. See the console section[wiki.factorio.com] on the wiki for details.
