Once you're in there it wil show you what kind (colours) of packs you need for what you want to research.
The other packs will be needed later ingame as you progress; they all go in the research lab(s), You can have multiple running at once to speed things up.
How about using your eyes, it's literally right there in front of you.............
I actually remember the first time I played the tutorials -- I never fully realized that the game was about automation. I built almost everything by hand in my inventory, instead of using assembly machines. I was vaguely annoyed that it took so long to make stuff, but I didn't realize that annoyance is, in factorio, an indication that you're probably "doing it wrong."

However, I am pretty sure that the the research menu used to pop up automatically when you placed the first science lab, so the tutorials used to work but haven't been properly updated.
Dont hesitate to ask here though, we will assist you with everything as long as you ask :)
the text location of notification for research is aligned with the old prompting method, and should probably be updated to fit new gui.
