Getting CPUs from security bots
Just got the game a few days ago, and made it to the area where I need to repurpose a security bot to make a hack tool. Died many, many times trying to kill just one with nothing else than melee weapons and paper armor.

Got really discouraged when I then discovered that I need no less than THREE security bot CPUs to make that damned tool... How am I supposed to destroy these things?!

place an non-wheeled chair on top of the plaza fountain, sit in the chair, ready your crossbow, and wait for the bot to awaken.

it'll see you, and come over towards you, but you'll be safe, just keep firing at its weakpoints ( the eye / camera, or the glass panel on the side of its back ).
-- while doing so, you'll be grinding both accuracy and reloading exp, while also gaining the cpu / etc from defeating the bots.

i wouldnt call 50 bolts a SOLID option. use the chomp. its so much eaiser and cheaper and requires no effort at all to setup. it also kills it in like 10 seconds. faster. cheaper. easier. crossbow is a pure downside compared could have used these 50 bolts to actually kill enemies in your way instead.

i wouldn't call 50 bolts a SOLID option. use the chomp. its so much easier and cheaper and requires no effort at all to setup. it also kills it in like 10 seconds. faster. cheaper. easier. crossbow is a pure downside compared could have used these 50 bolts to actually kill enemies in your way instead.
you do get an good portion of the bolts back afterwards.

There is a security bot on the 3rd floor of the office sector that is right down the hall from a pool of electrified water. Either wait for night or wake it up by hitting the spawn a bunch and lead it there.

Na, its a great option for getting an early xp bump for Reloading and Accuracy. Just shoot the bot in the central lobby from the top of the water fountain. It cant reach you.

Choppinator is great for farming bots, but getting an early bump on ranged weapons really helps with progression solo.

The XP you get from attacking robots is very small compared to other enemies. There are far better ways to train Accuracy, plus Reloading is a skill you can train passively while exploring.

This is a very slow way both of obtaining CPUs and training Accuracy.

Using a Chopinator and getting Accuracy XP in other ways is far more recommended.

K, good thing it also gives you loads of Reload XP like I said making it worth it for the first couple of CPUs.

At this stage of the game, you already have access to Chopinators which are much faster for obtaining CPUs and, as mentioned, Reloading is something you can train passively during the game.

I can confirm, the XP gains from attacking the bots (and a few other select enemies that are easy to hit) is greatly reduced. Bots and a few other enemies are not worth attacking over and over again if going for skill levels.

If you are wanting to level up an attack skill aways check how much XP you are getting for a given enemy. You will always know on the first hit if it is worth it. If it is lower than normal, don't use it as a target for grinding points.

Another option is luring it into the pool and poking it with a spear. If you're quick, you can even whack it with a club or something. Once it falls into the pool, it cannot get out anymore. You can also use it to train throwing and shooting. That's how I killed the first ones, before building a chopinator next to its pod.

Trying to use the crossbow and starter bolts is hardmode for your boredom. Takes a loooooong time to kill it.

I usually use 4-5 shock traps and a spear, or a chopper would be even faster and easier as has been mentioned.

This worked for me. There is a square water fountain near the cafeteria and in front of the Tram station. The bot will chase you around that, but not very fast. You can fire a bolt, keep walking while you reload, turn and fire until he's done. The fountain structure gives you cover from any retaliation he tries to use.

Once I realised shock traps were quite effective and the spear/crossbow, this is the way to go if you're not feeling chopinator. Just put shock traps on the corners of the fountain and evade sufficiently to keep the bot on path to get shocked. This increased the rate we were killing them by i don't even know.
