Which you unlock when you first see it
Same as you can block portal storms by upgrading the work bench
And if the enemies that spawn annoy you build a tesla or grinder turret
The fog and radiation events are vastly worse and extremely obnoxious because even in a protective suit your vision is ruined for the whole day. I'd rather these events be localised in a sector of the facility rather than EVERYWHERE.
Portal storms can be negated with workbench upgrade. As for weather, I had one day of fog, but no new enemies spawned, so it was just waste of day.
It's the overflowing storage chests that are finally FORCING me to move back into the cafeteria, It's secured, I'm just done with Rise and all that's left is grind, which has taken some pressure off. I can nibble at the game as I like for loot runs until the next update, and build out the teleport points, and maybe if I get enough bloody rebar I can build the boxes to move everything to over in the cafeteria and finally be done.
How did you even get into Rise? I did construct one laser reflector, but couldn't redirect laser with it to hit portal.
2 small crates right close to the base of the laser, then place the Laser Reflector on top. Takes some repositioning of the reflector, but it's doable. If the crates get damaged by the laser, just repair them.
I placed 2 of the MEDIUM crates such that the reflector can go on the side of the lower one and fire up very close to the edge of the top one.
Place the lowest one slightly forward of where the green laser hits the ground.
Place the reflector on it's side and fire it upwards, you can rotate the green laser at the output to make it easier to stand and get a good angle.
Place the second medium storage on top such that the lower laser fires close to it's side. Read the next step.
Place the second reflector on the EDGE of the top medium crate such that it can rotate around and fire at the orb. This is easiest to do facing the green laser source but is fiddly. You might have to replace this a couple times until you get close enough. The laser directed upwards will enter the base and then can be twisted around until it hits at the correct level. However aligning the output to the grid is SUPER fiddly. Try using the green laser as a centering line on your screen (with the lower reflector rotated away temp.).
Yeah, it took me a couple hours of trying stuff and then reading suggestions here and trying it again. It's the (objects) MEDIUM sized boxes, not the small ones.
PSA: Hints for where the Rise portal is, 1) missing dark lens , 2) under the cool zipline's zappy room.
Edit: consolidating the screenshot up here too.

The small ones definitely work, I've done this twice using small crates.
You caught me while I was updating my post and adding spoiler blocks. Could you please add them in your post too? { -sp-oiler- } { / -spoil-er- } no spaces, and no dashes, square the brackets. It's probably easier to quote my post again and shove that into your reply.
I couldn't get the small storage to work, and I described EXACTLY what I did that worked for me.
Sure, although I don't think spoiler tags are needed here.
I understand you used a different method, but you said "medium sized boxes, not small ones", and I'm just pointing out that small ones work. I'll post a screenshot in a bit, if I still have it done in one of my saves.
Abiotic Factor Early Access Initial Public Release (near 4th of July, so after several patches).

Interesting; is there a small tilt to the smaller crates? When I set them up similarly to the final result, the reflector on the top was slightly too low, but that was closer to the target, again right where the floor spot is.
