Wasn't quite expecting this.
Nor can I really call it invalid, because it is just an opinion.
From personal experience with any game that offers both, I tend to prefer the shared experience with co-op, since that can be more fun, both at the time and when remembering it later on. The fact that solo is viable and is fun too, potentially more fun depend on the situation, shouldn't really close the door on co-op play.
Or to put it simply, and in the words of most internet goers,
'That opinion is full of crap. Why do that to yourself? If the game is fun, play it!'
As a player who played single and coop i can say its bs what you are saying because playing coop can have some crazy moment soo many times i just love watching my teammate getting jump scared by a mob or see him get lost around the map meanwhile i am just on an elevated position looking at him ( and even though i ask him do you know the way he says he knows xD but he is lost ) and then seeing him get excited for getting paper armor just to loss his hope that its not that powerfull armor etc it has its moment just because someone said ya this game is not fun (while they didnt even try it with there friends), it does not mean it isnt fun with friends. as for single player its fun but its more fun with friends build create laugh etc now prove me wrong
Based on what are they getting to this conclusion? lol
The game is very fun both solo and multiplayer, that's such a weird take from someone who hasn't played the game.
Yes, it's perfectly playable solo.
Biased due to years of firsthand experience with online trolls. So much so that we don't even bother looking for groups anymore. God help me I tried over the years. Troll after troll after troll.
So just imagine how beat down and hopeless it's become that folks run into SO MANY trolls that even in a STRICTLY co-op game, we don't even trust folks on the other side of the mic. Been there. Done that. Dozens of times. Maybe hundreds. Dozens of trolls.
So that's it. They win. We're gone. "Yay". Hope they're happy. We're done with multi-player now. We don't even bother anymore. We just don't need the stress.
Hope that clarifies the perspective. You'll get there, too. Eventually. Or you're a troll.
EDIT: aside I just want to point out how fascinating it is, with almost four decades of gaming experience, folks had decided to gamify social engineering and betrayal, above and beyond the actual scope of the game. I really just wonder what day to day life looks like for people like that. Maybe I'd have an ounce of sympathy for them.
No bots, it's only you.
Can't you just play with eachother? That's basically how I run; I only play games in multiplayer with friends I'm already familiar with. The only clowning around is group-sponsored. Apart from the ongoing violations of the laws of physics, anyways.
I won't get there actually because this is a brain rot opinion that's utterly irrelevant to this game and this thread, where OP's family member would have a 0% chance of ever encountering a "troll" if they didn't mean to, unless the call is coming from inside the house.
You wouldn't believe how many times I've heard this oh so rare perspective of, "one time I got bullied in a pub therefore no game should have co-op," usually from patrons of a game getting ready to jump off a playership cliff. Of course that doesn't seem to apply here since there's zero indication you even understand what this thing is much less own it.
Re-read it again. What does online trolls have to do with playing a game with just family members? If trolls are in a private game, there are more serious things going on than just being trolled; as in someone has hacked in a private network.
Your post is like a step or two away from being a complete non sequitur. It says more about you and your problems with expectations and being unable to filter out what games are worth running with random people and what ones aren't. I've played quite a few co-op games with randos and had quite a bit of fun with them. Sure, there were some trolls, but if the game is done right, the trolls are far and few between.
Look at my Years of Service badge, I literally say this with decades of experience.
That said, I do feel sorry for you that you've been so unlucky and so downtrodden to think that trolls have won in every corner of the internet. They haven't.
In Singleplayer, you have to face the dangers of the facility alone, but you control what/where/how to setup your base/s, and you control what resources you get and keep and such (no arguing over who gets what, but all the work is on you).
In Multiplayer, more hands (usually) means less work, but I guess it all comes down to team dynamic / how well the people would play together (in this case, I assume the family members are well used to working together with one another). I've only played with close friends, I've not tried public lobbies (usually for the same reason of potentially dealing with toxic players).
As someone who has played the game both singleplayer and multiplayer, both methods are fun, at least in my opinion (I guess with multiplayer, it depends on the people you play with, if they'll enhance your gameplay experience). The game does have co-op in mind (of up to 6 players, last I checked), but you can still have fun solo (where you can set the world to single-player, if you want).
Judging by the completely unhinged speech here, I can tell maybe you deserved a lil' trolling.
