dieing from 10'
stupid ladder didn't work, but falling 10' should not kill you.

and sick and tired of having to kill the same soldiers over and over again. where are they all coming from.

You have to go back to base, to heal, eat sleep and when you come back there all back.

Having to kill them over and over again is dumb.

So stop their spawns with crafting benches.

Fall damage is far too harsh right now, I agree.

Fall damage does feel a bit over tuned, but also consider whether or not your carrying several refrigerators. Dropping 10 feet with that on your back would, in fact, kill you. Though it would have done so already... Still, they could turn it down a bit.

I'd rather have an option to drop down from a ledge in a controlled way than to really change the fall damage.

Also, how are you getting killed by the ladder? I've play Half-Life 1, and those ladders are death traps. The ladders in this game are great in comparison, heck, even better than some ladders in other modern games.

No shaming anyone here, I admit the mechanic to get on and get off a ladder feels odd in this game, and it is a hard thing for devs to get right. I'm wondering what people are getting wrong.

solo respawns are total cancer. and they dont even drop more ammo than it takes to kill them so you are forced to do it with melee, which means wasting heals as well. getting them one at a time with stealth power attack headshots with the thermal mallet works OK, but they will all suddenly aggro and rush you at some point.

clearing the same enemies on repeat is seriously hampering my enjoyment of the game. they need to either be more interesting, less frequent, or at least rewarding to fight. even on the hardest difficulties in HL you would NEVER use more ammo than you get from a fight with soldiers. they should be dropping bullets guaranteed, especially since most guns are non repairable (without a glitch?)

I was sold on the concept for this game, but man the solo experience has been really bad in some aspects. Im sure it will get ironed out but its sad because there is so much good here.

Fall damage is dumb, no air control either so you SLIGHTLY move too fast when trying to drop on to a boucepad/cushion and "say goodbye to your kneecaps chucklehead". no air control is just awful in so many ways. its what makes source games feel SOO good to move around in, yet this does not have any for some reason. seems like a massive oversight, especially considering how many jump pads/fall damage items are useless without it.

What spot are you talking about and how does fall damage factor into it? If you wanna make a drop for a shortcut, you can always craft a rope or cushion pad. I have those in several places (as well es jump pads for the way up) and it's made some annoying, common paths noticably quicker.

Besides that, fall damage is harsh, but that's how it should be. Try to make those jumps irl, especially as a somewhat scrawny scientist, and you will hurt yourself and sprain your ankle(s).

I feel like there's a bug with damage in general. It seems like I suddenly take too much damage that quickly clears me. Sometimes I'm not even fighting anything. Like the fire from the mallet borderline instant kills me. It's so weird.

Are you wearing damage returning Carapace Armor?

If so, you might want to take that off, since that might still be bugged.

I think I was when it happened, but I'm not sure. I'll keep that in mind, thanks.

Sheesh, you in a bad mood? If realism was a big priority for me in videogames, I certainly wouldn't love this game as much as I do. I, personally, just like how harsh ithe fall damage is in this game because most games have the tendency to do the opposite.
レミにゃん May 13, 2024 @ 1:38pm
I don't think it's so much an appeal to "muh realism" as it is just an appeal to "immersion in a video game"
It's not often you get to play as a scrawny scientist, it's part of the draw for me and my friend. Meme magic.
Sorry that you're not enjoying the game, though.
Rooter May 13, 2024 @ 5:36pm
"BUT REALISM = IMMERSION!!!!! I CANT GET IMMERSED WITHOUT A TON OF FALL DAMAGE!"

You know just disregard,
.eating irradiated alien meat with no consequences, despite it being strong enough to irradiate you by proximity
.taking iodine to instantly cure radiation poisoning
.placing a pillow on the floor to remove all fall damage
.handguns taking dozens of headshots to kill unarmored humans
.healing to full health by sleeping for an hour
.said "scrawny scientist" being able to punch through steel robot exoskeleton with a spear made from a kitchen knife
and dozens of other things that are nonsensical and unrealistic. but you draw the line at fall damage. lol.

and then the other dude who just says he likes lots of fall damage to be contrarian. again, lol,

two polar opposite responses, yet both as moronic. thanks for the laugh :hungry_ONE_PIECE_ODYSSEY:

I have yet to get an answer as to how people are falling off of ladders and getting hurt.

And this isn't the only thread I asked in.
