Multiple bases
Do you think it's a good idea to have multiple bases throughout the complex or just focus on just one judging by your experiences.

It takes some juggling, but the game does not punish you for having more than one base location. If anything, it is nice to have a secure spot to rest and set a nearby respawn point, and perhaps drop off loot to be picked up later.]

When teleporters become introduced, multiple bases will be absolutely fantastic!

I'm really not far into the game, i'm still getting use to, well, everything. I'm still trying to figure out how to cook these monsters meat. And i set up a basic base in the security room near the cafeteria at the beginning of the game. It's tedious so far, but i love every seconds of it!

when you are able to craft a telporter, it dosent matter anymore. I build two teleporters and when i am going to explore, i place one workbench as an anchor near my exploration spot, and just tp back and forth between those two points.

I have one in first floor offices kitchen and another on level two near Silo 3 to facilitate grocery shopping in resource-rich Flathill. In my experience, it's not necessary, but eventually you'll sort of run out of meaningful things to do, so why not create convenient little hideouts here and there? Convenience is really nice, after all. I go as far as to use the Red Chair as a fast travelling method.

Don't read the spoiled line if you're indeed new to the game. Trust me.

Not sure if it works the same with multiple people, but in SP the portal storm just moved to the different base as soon as i entered it's "safe area", even though it originally started appearing around a different base

the best way to do that and not get punished for it heavily is to have separate outposts for separate reasons and then make sure they're in relatively secure areas. I have a main base and then a main crafting room but I have little stations for sleeping, eating, and restrooms sprinkled throughout. It may take some waiting though for the perfect spot with no enemy spawns to show up for you though, I didn't establish an outpost in manufacturing until I opened the room above Blacksmith.

I had an odd one in that regard, I had spent the night at my 2nd base set up in manufacturing during a portal storm, not being convinced that my main base in the lvl 2 security office was safe (first portalstorm with a 2nd base) I headed back after dealing with the spawns.

I took the tram and got back reasonably fast (was still dark) and found that the nightly robot attack had seemingly happened and its bits were scattered about in the usual spot between my chopper and teslacoil.

The thing is, they weren't turned on.

I'm wondering if there's some level of sim for your base if you aren't there.

I set a base up by the caf also. Then it turned night and a robot came and ate me and the base :D

Well sh*t... i guess i'll have to make a move sooner than expected. The robot was able to get inside?! I haven't dealt with them yet, i've seen them ''sleeping'' but haven't mess with them yet.

Found this video, some areas he mentioned seemed really interesting for base. what do you guys think?

Just place a second crafting bench closer to the robot station to despawn it

I'm assuming with the size of the map you're gonna want at least 2 if not 3 bases. My first base is the Conference Room just upstairs from the first guard station. Lots of chairs to harvest, 2 huge cabinets for storage and a power supply with a closing door and a tank of water

If you're playing solo, keep one main base and then set up temporary bases as needed. Moving bases solo takes WAY too long. Don't need to place a lot of things on a temp base, just a Crafting Bench, a R&S Station, a few crates and batteries to keep everything working during the night. When you no longer need a temp base at that location, you can move that one to the next location pretty easily (or just leave it there if you have a surplus of resources).

If you're playing with a group, multiple people can use multiple carts/vehicles so it's easier to move bases.

I absolutely recommend establishing a base next to each Portal World location. You'll be visiting them regularly for the renewable resources and having a base there will suppress enemy spawns while powered.

I've just been building up a base in the big security office with the shutters. Sure, it's not nearly as secure as it used to be since they nerfed the hell out of the shutters, but it's still comfortably secure and easy to defend with plenty of space for building. It also has a charging station built in, which is handy. It's a *little* bit out of the way, but running down to the tram station isn't too much trouble really.
