Purpose of hand drill?
Sure it looks like an upgrade to the screwdriver but what is better about it?
Haven't build it yet cause unsure if it is needed... does it increase the change of packing furniture or speed up packing?
Feels there is some description missing on why to craft it.

It builds 33% faster than the Screwdriver.

It does need better info.

Each poke does more a bit more build progression than the normal screwdriver. I haven't tested packing speed though. If I recall right it is somehow lighter than the screwdriver, even though the wiki doesn't say it.

The Power Drill does 2x as much building progress than the screwdriver, which is nice, but is still easy to miss.

It adds more progress to the bar than the screwdriver, the lack of audio feedback and the similar animation speed make it feel similar.

Doesn't feel like it, but I know it's being made faster because I'm getting less construction XP then with the screwdriver.

I think it is bugged I did side by side tests of all the screwdriver options and didn't see a difference.

It isn't bugged. I don't know what test you did, but Hand and Power Drills are definitely faster and require less clicks than the Screwdriver.

Well maybe the items I constructed are bugged then because for me it took the same amount of time and clicks. I tested this about 2 patches ago so if they fixed it I didn't try again yet

I don't have a Hand Drill with me now since I already upgraded it, but I can show you the difference between a Screwdriver and a Power Drill.

While building a Medium Crate:

Screwdriver: 12 clicks
Power Drill: 7 clicks

EDIT: trying a 2nd time with the Power Drill, it took 6 clicks. So it's about twice as fast as the Screwdriver.

So you are getting something thats faster and thus is balanced by granting less XP?

Sounds like a downgrade or sidegrade at best, no point in making.

I think by the time you can get the hand/power drill, you can also just go on deconstruction raids through portal worlds to grind your construction skill. Once you've got the power drill, you should also be able to set up teleporter loops, so you can pop in and out whenever the portal world resets - which is incredibly useful for more than just grinding skills.

I don't want to meet the man who spent enough time to get up to 12 solely on screwdrivers.

By the time you can make the power drill, you have access to a portal world that is entirely furniture that you can repeatedly deconstruct for way more xp than you'd be getting by rubbing your screwdriver on a furniture ghost.

While I do think that the XP rate should be proportional to building progress rather than based on clicks, this is hardly a downgrade or a sidegrade. You spend less time building stuff and you can get Construction XP elsewhere, as it has been suggested above, which is also far more efficient than just building stuff.

I don't have a regular screwdriver anymore otherwise i'd redo my tests but I think I did mine of a regular non medium crate.

Also wow the difference between 12 clicks and 7 clicks for an end game item you really think you did something here. Not even a 60% improvement for going 2 tiers higher imagine if the starting weapon was only 60% stronger than the end game weapon we would think upgrading your weapon is pointless.

Dude, first of all: chill out. I was just showing how there IS a difference. You said that you thought there wasn't and I showed how that's not the case. If that's a reason for you to attack people then take some time off to relax.

Second, you DO realize we are NOT playing endgame content right now, right? What we have of the game now is only around 20-30% of the game. We might get other upgrades further down the line.

And third, this IS a considerable upgrade. Or were you hoping that you'd be building stuff with 2-3 clicks by this stage of the game? If someone in the game is going to be building a lot of stuff at once, this is saving them nearly 50% in time required. The only adjustment needed now is to make it so XP is earned proportional to progress and not number of clicks.
