how to make manufacturing easier solo/2p
it's really hard to trap order grunts when they constantly move around like tweakers, and fire at range anyways; this limits the efficacy of the chop, electric and tesla coil traps

they have ballistic resistance, but are still tough as heck against melee, and they constantly spawn in groups

this isn't even counting the snipers that spawn, where if you don't kill them in one hit from stealth, they can just immediately drop you at point blank range

the FORGE set helps a little bit, but it's still a pain trying to kill these clowns

how can I make this awful place easier for me and my gf?

tips only please, don't be rude

If you're playing default settings, I had a pretty decent time with them by using tripwires to chunk their hp before moving in to try and kill them with a scrapshot to the head.

I found the commandos, medics and general grunts even died really quick to a good headshot with the scattershot and the tripwires tend to kill them in one good hit or two tops.

All in all though, rat tactics are solid so aggroing them with a few pot shots and then sort of falling back to traps you've set is what worked for me and I honestly think it's somewhat what the developers intended considering you're a scientist that's cobbling anything they can find together into lethal implements while trying to fight opponents with military-grade gear.

So yeah if you're having issues, obviously tackling them head on isn't the most advisable method but rather luring them into a more advantageous position to soften them up so you two can have an easier time mopping them up.

You've also got slushie bombs you can make to aoe freeze them as well which are another very cheap aid earlier on.

Hope that helps!
They're only resistant against Blunt Melee - they are not resistant against Sharp Melee (they're actually weak against Sharp). And they're not resistant against bullets.

I know this sounds obvious, but in any case: always go for headshots. Using a spear and aiming for the head can kill them quickly. You should have access to the Welding Spear by now. And even if they resist Blunt Melee, a power attack to the head will still cause a lot of damage and can even one-shot kill them with a sneak attack if your Sneaking is high enough.

You should have at least one Pistol by now, which is very effective against them, again as long as you're aiming for headshots. And while you can't repair it, the Pistol still lasts for a while and enemies will occasionally drop new ones too. Otherwise, you can also cheese them with the Scrapshot, just run up close to them and shoot them right on the head, most of the time this will kill them instantly.

Shields can block enemy gunfire.

Snipers cause a lot of damage but they won't take your entire health bar at once. If you're dying easily, you're either low on health or something is wrong and could be a bug.

Tripwire Mines can be very useful, as they'll run after you if you run away, so you can place a Tripwire Mine and wait for them to activate it.

Also note that there are two buildings in Manufacturing that are full of soldiers and the guy on the radio tells you to avoid it. You don't have to go in those two buildings, there isn't really anything special to find there anyway. If you absolutely want to explore those buildings, you can come back later with better equipment.

The actual key which I don't think is immediately obvious but which was mentioned above is that shields can block gunfire, often easily. You can also orbit the group of soldiers and line them up so as to confound their line of sight and get them to shoot each other. They aren't particularly tactically bright. If you're good with a crossbow you can also get a chance to proc bleeding on the snipers and then it's one and done and you can move on.

I both love and dislike this tactic. lol

I love it for the fact of the irony, being sniped back, but kind of hate how cheap it is.
...
But also the snipers kind of diverse it.

I actually completely overlooked their issue regarding snipers because I'm actually thinking now...I don't even think any of them got a shot off let alone dealt me any damage. They had such a non-existent presence for me I kinda forget they even existed.

Each encounter was the same from the 3 that I can remember. First in manufacturing was approached from beneath, just simply climbed the ladder and popped them in the back of the head with scrapshot.

Other 2 I recall were in that deeper, dead-end like area of the mines with the bridge and the one in the tower was...well in fact all of them I just snuck up on and shot them in the back of the head with scrapshot. I'm actually trying to fathom how any of them even present an issue.

Man, the last update nerfed them to hell an back. You can face tank them with forge armor.

Tesla, tripwire, scrapshot everything is effective against these guys. They are a joke now. Try headshots with the guns and melee.

If you are trying to clear the crossroads, that is not where you should be when you enter manufacturing.

If you are with a buddy, one can take the net launcher and the other can use a knife and you still win.

Soldiers have stormtrooper aim even before the updates. Circle strafing will prevent you from getting shot in most cases, sniper won't hit that often as long as you're not moving towards them either.

Once you unlock the portal in manufacturing, mugnades wipe soldiers to a comical degree. You just gotta buy coffee for the mugs and hit up the portal for the other prerequisite to unlock the recipe.
Please don't make the devs nerf the already EXTREMELLY nerfed Order... There is too few of them now on Singleplayer as it is now :c
I would think all this talk on how easy it is might cause the devs to buff them back up.

That said, I'm sure the devs will (eventually?) bring the enemy count back up. But that's going to happen in the next dev cycle or so.

Manufacturing is already easy solo, spear to the face is easy mode.
It wasn't that easy for me, but also that was before the enemy count reduction and other stats changed and me just being stubborn and using a Thermal Mallet, because I didn't want to default back to spears again.

What I did to compensate was to do sneak attacks with the heavy swing, retreat around a corner, and setup for another charged attack to the face as one rounds the corner.

I was used to other games where it was best to single out and take down strong enemies. Main reasons I ever died was because I thought I could kill an already injured soldier in a small group, despite my health being low; because retreating and healing up would take more time. Half the time it worked and was able to manage things, other times a 'lucky shot' got me.

It takes twice as many hits to kill them if they wear a helmet from 3 with a welding spear to 5-6 so always knock the helmet off to bring them back to only 3 hits.
I went through manufacturing easily solo before the reduced enemies update, I'm finding it difficult believing people are actually having an issue getting around manufacturing.

Are you equipping a shield? I don't takes up too much of the screen and I can't see ♥♥♥♥.

Only if you're using a Heater/Charge/Kite Shield. Plastic Shields can be used just as fine and don't block a lot of the screen.
