Stuck Main Quest Door Won't Open

I am on the main quest Unnatural Selection. I have found Dawson's mansion but the gate is locked. It doesn't matter who I talk to or what I do but it always stays locked. I would really appreciate some help.

Are you at the point where Redgrave's told you to go there? I think the path I took was through the safehouse, there was another exit inside.

Thanks for your reply Sheppard. Yes Redgrave told me to go there. I've tried going through the safe house and every other possible way. I've talked to all of the people and spied on the two boys conversation. But the gate to the mansion always stayed locked. The boys even got up and walked through the locked gate and I tried to run through as well but it wouldn't let me.

Wrong gate, that whole area doesn't open. You want the section to the east near the path to Whitechapel. It's surrounded by Priwen.

I've tried that path also. I can get into the area of the mansion but just the gate directly outside the mansion I can't get through.

I've sunk a lot of hours into this game and would be gutted to have to restart.
I have probably spent around 5 hours alone trying to get into the mansion.

I feel pretty dumb now. The mansion that I thought I was supposed to go in was not even the right place!! It was nowhere near the icon on the map. I had seen a youtube video that went into the other place that I was trying to get into but that must be after I go to Dawson's mansion.

Well, better than getting an actual glitch that breaks the game. If you loop around the locked park (the place that isn't Dawson's mansion) there are stairs down to a crypt with an interesting citizen if you haven't met him yet. The main quest doesn't take you there though.

Thanks Sheppard, I really appreciate your assistance with this. Without your advice I wouldn't have gone back to the east path and found the correct mansion entrance.
