Can't change in-game language to English
Hi,

It seems the only option I have is to play in Polish (with polish subs) since I've bought a Polish distribution from the store. Is there no way to change the language to English? I'd honestly rather not test the translation quality in an RPG...

Hi, I tried to mess with it to find how exactly it works but I didn't succeed. I did stop because at one point I wasn't able to make it English again. So I left it as it is to play. I would like to help you but as I said I could not reproduce the steps necessary to switch it to English 100%.

You can first try this:
justpaste.[it]/Vampyr_ENG

Go to your Steam client, Library, Right-click on Vampyr, Properties, Language, choose your desired language and close the window.

Yeah, I don't seem to have that option available. Any other ideas?

Make sure the game is not running while doing that, otherwise it depends on your region i suppose.

Guess the Origin sickness is spreading then, lovely.

Yeah that doesn't change anything.
The funny thing is that the option to choose is in the in-game menu but it's just inactive.

And btw I do have my system in english and steam in english too, so this is actually worse than Origin.

Contacted the Polish publisher OP - apparently Focus only provides Polish localization licence for that particular market. Boggles my mind why that is, but apparently including more than a single langugage option must cut horrificly into their profit margin.

Oh well, guess I won't be buying any more of their games.

I'll try to get a refund in this case and buy a global key.
Shame on Focus for making anyone go through this trouble. I understand the files on the CD may be Polish, but downloading the game through Steam should provide an option to choose the language.

Nope, can't get a refund either since the game key has already been activated on Steam.
Fantastic

Aye, the only option I can think of is downloading the game off a torrent or something and replacing the language files, but honestly - I don't care enough.

It was a bit of shock to me as well.
I've ordered the game from Empik (Polish store) beacuse of the sound selection on vinyl record.
It was the closest shop I could have it shipped to my country - Slovakia.

I would never expected to have problems with the language selection.
In past I have ordered "Observer" game the same way and had no problems after activating the key on Steam.
However when I activated the code and saw "Vampyr - Poland Retail Keys" I began to sense it could mean problems :steamsalty: :steamfacepalm:

So I was forced to fetch a torrent, but I still don't understand how changing of localization works.
(experimenting with files, unpacking .paks and messing with config files)
At the end I was somehow able to switch it to any of the supported languages.
But the achievements don't work anymore. :steamfacepalm:

At the end everyone should be able to play the game with the supported languages here on Steam as it is advertised. The localization is already in there, distributed with the game files. There seems to be only problem to switch it through in-game menu. I did send support ticket, so I hope they will FIX it soon.

Same problem here. It is ridiculous that I am forced to play in a given language, even if the translation is done well. I can only imagine the annoyance of a foreigner who bought the special edition via Empik to get the vinyl record soundtrack, and now they cannot navigate the game because it is in Polish. I am sending a support ticket to Focus as well.

I'm currently waiting for more than a week for any response... don't think it's happening.
This actually p*ssed me off so much that I'll actually try to give Focus as much bad press as possible for this ...

I got an email to my request shortly after with a question "Where did I purchase my Steam key".
I replied right away and described basically what is in my previous post here.

It's been a week without any answer at all.

The only good thing I somehow managed to make achievements work and have it in English using files from torrent release. Still don't know how exactly I managed it to work and I don't want to mess it up till I finish the game :D

I tried replacing files from a torrent source too but whenever I manage to make the game actually start with them - somehow I get Polish with English being chosen in the in game config :D
Can you maybe share some info as to what you've replaced?
