Second, its sort of in the middle convinient and lore. In lore the Guard is tought how to identify a vampire, you can learn that from the scarrtered notes containing lore written by the Guard.
Also convinience when you have fed on a victim and gain red eyes because it's so easy to spot. I know the prostitue comments on your pale skin looking cold. But, had a guy come into work today, he had a busted vain in one eye and it's so noticable when making eye contact. Any normal person would notice having blood red iris especially when Reid's eye color is a white-ish grey.
I see, thanks for explaining it, at least it makes a bit more sense.
And after about 15 hours of progress: Jonathan to Lady Ashbury: "Am I... a Vampire?!" Really?
It seems that most of the dialogue was written without having in mind with whom those people are actually talking, which makes it feel quite dislocated sometimes.
The cover of plague is a good idea, but then again if people would take him for being "just sick with the plague", they'd *probably* not be that welcoming.
Yet they are fine with allowing a brute squad, whose soul purpose is to hunt vampires, declare Marshall Law, patrol the streets, and kill everyone on sight? Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.
I'm simply presenting the game world's attitude toward vampires, as presented by the game itself. Citizens wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the claims of vampires if it were accepted in the game's world that their existence is common knowledge.
And, well, it depends on how you look at it. With the police force in shambles, it's not entirely unreasonable for a milita to form to restore law and order, in some form at least. And from what several citizens say, that's pretty much how they view the guard. As a milita to keep the peace. And they don't kill everyone on sight, they provide plenty of warning. The guard probably do kill innocent people claiming that they are vampires, but they are only actively patrolling the streets at night in lower populated areas (with a few exceptions, of course).
As far as I can tell, the guard's true purpose, as vampire hunters, isn't public knowledge.
