Blackmail in Whitechapel

Alright, am I doing something wrong or is this game freaking broken. I am on the story quest "Blackmail in Whitechapel" where I have to find a way into Darius Petrescu's house.

When talking to him, I can either use the information I gathered from him or I can Mesmerize him but that requires having a level 2 Mesmerize. I played for like four hours trying to raise my Mesmerize level before I just googled it and found out I have to play through the story.

The problem is I am playing through the story and it's giving me a locked option because the story hasn't given me the ability to use it. Is there I was to get your Mesmerize skill to 2 before you talk to Darius Petrescu? Or is the game just broken?

can't use mem.2 yet cause your lv is mem1...just enory what you see there. each npc has different mesmenze lv to use on them, his happens to 2:P the game is forcing you to learn to talk to others to get necessary clues needed to get the job done without forcing you way in with mesmenze skill.

Then why does it show me the option, if I can't Mesmerize him yet, because it is still locked in the game because I haven't gotten that far into the story then why even make it a dialog option before I get the ability to do so.

cause like rl not everything is handed to us freely we must earn it. somethings are just alittle out of reach and thats not always a bad thing...because of that reed got to know a group of ppl on a personal level and reed grown alittle himself. it had mem2 listed for ppl who didnt bother to get to know ppl first...to teach him that vamp cant enter without permission and only with certain amount of skill is needed to do it forceabley; so his only option is investgate from others

Then the game is broken, you shouldn't show the player an option if it is impossible for them to achieve it.

no you have to do it the human way...be nosy and ask ppl alot of questions:P all uninvited door have mesmetze attach to them(to humans living there) they all have difference levels of will power. just so happens that human will is stronger then reeds at that time. doesnt mean game broken...wow feel like i talking to wall here but hopefully it make sense now. not saying anymore on subject here. only way to level reed mesmetze skill is to do the main story line...it gains strength slowlyas the story goes forward.
