What do you lose by playing the game on story mode?
I... cannot stand the combat in this game. The combat controls feel like a mess, and I just keep dying. I'm not even that far into the game. It's actually for this reason alone that I stopped playing for months- I got stuck. Where I need to go, there are way too many enemies in my path. I've also heard that leveling up makes combat harder rather than easier.

Not sure if there are achievements tied to difficulty. But you aren’t missing much honestly the plot isn’t that good either.

You can not get "the not even once Achivement" for sure, maybe other achivements are affected too.Lvling makes the game easier.
Enemies seem to lvl based on story progress up to about lvl 35.You can get to lvl 50 max, easily few shoting enemies even on hard.If you go with the "no embrace run" you will be done probaly around lvl 25-30.Lvling affects the dmg taken/recieved by a LOT.

I heard u can't get achievements on story mode.
I played on normal and had no problems...
reached lvl 36 never grinded xp, embraced only a handful of civilians.

With right weapons combat is good enough..I tried with different set of weapons and DOWN I went so fast.

Try 2 hander blunt maces..later on you want scalpel for blood, since you do dmg so much you don't stun anymore..you kill

Who told you levlling makes game harder? Every zone has max level cap. and changes with chapter.

Foes on your lvl are tricky, but need only 1-2 lvls over your level and you kill them fast.
