Vampyr
Third Update Beta
Hello everyone,

Today, we’re very happy to announce the launch of a beta for Vampyr’s third update, before it launches in the near future.

This beta will help us ensure that the patch addresses the issues that we'd like it to address, as well as let us know that there aren't any other more esoteric issues that need to be dealt with.

This beta introduces the Story and Hard mode difficulty options, which will be available to players when they start a new game. You won’t be able to change the difficulty you’re playing on mid-game.

It also introduces Nvidia Ansel support for taking high-quality screenshots.

To enter this beta, you will need to right-click Vampyr in your Steam Library, and select "Properties". Then, click "Betas" and finally, select "Public_Beta" in the dropdown menu. This will download the patch to your PC. Should you want to go back to the previous version of the game, you will simply need to select "none" in the same dropdown menu.

Please find the changelog below:

New Features:
  • Introduced New Difficulty Modes (Story Mode and Hard Mode)
  • Introduced Nvidia Ansel
Fixes:
  • An issue where the key to Morgue was missing has been fixed (Mission 21)
  • Fixed an issue where there was a wall missing collisions in Aloysius’ mansion
  • Fixed an issue that would occur with two-handed weapon skills
  • Fixed an issue with Simplified Chinese achievements appearing in English
  • Various other fixes

If you encounter any issues with this update, please don't hesitate to let us know!

Thanks,

The Vampyr Team.

Sounds good but you might want to reconsider "You won’t be able to change the difficulty you’re playing on mid-game.".

Will there be new achievements added?

Just finished a level 3 fallen champion run(and beat Mccullum close combat), I'm eager to try hard mode. A little sad I can't test hard mode boss fight with my existing level 3 savefile. Maybe later I'll do another level 3 run with hard mode after i finish a normal leveling one and get my final achievement.

So far here's what i gatherd, Joe's barbed cudgel's parry is normal now(one shot mccullum's enitre stun metor), Samuel Connor's Mace has stun weapon skill(previously only basic attack), Axe's level4-5 damage is still 275-275. And rage still doesn't receive bonus from shadow veil.Experience for killing enemies(including boss) has been halfed(2.5/enemy,0.5 will be count as 1,so 3xp for 1,5 for 2, 8 for3). I can't say how much health or damage has been added to the enemies,i only fight up to bishop no further.

has any patch adressed the stupid long loading times yet? i'm on a ryzen 1700x a gtx970 with 16gb of ddr4 ram and a msi tomahawk 350 motherboard and my loading times when reloading the game after death, going to a new area or loading the game fresh are always over 3 minutes long.

Hello everyone,

Good job. Looking forward to see more patches and updates.

In my opinion, the gameplay is mostly sufferering from:
  • Lack of stealth and stealth takedowns. This should definitely be added at some point as it would add more variation to combat and to gameplay, as well as more ways to role-play.

  • Too many respawning enemies; this becomes specialy tiresome at late game when combat starts to feel repetitive. Directly linked to this is the extensive amount of ingredient required for crafting. Too much grind.

In my opinion, the story and narrative are mostly suffering from:

  • Lack of an option to kill McCullum. We get such an option for every other NPC, why not him? Lack of this option detracs from the role playing experience.

  • Lack of an option to fight and kill Lord Redgrave. This feels missing after he declares war on us(depending on our choises).

  • Dorothy Crane "Charm Option" is extremely misleading. Unlocking all hints and special conversation lines with citizens has been up until this point, always rewarded! In all other instances later in the game, we get rewarded too. But for some reason, in this particular case we get punished for it; this i consider to be bad and misleading design.

  • How exactly did Mary became a vampire? We suck her blood, she did not suck ours, so by ingame stablished lore she could not have becomed a vampire. Needs a change on the cinematics or something.

Also. DRM-free option please.

yellow:

cant kill mccullen cause he only source for the king arthur blood need for the anitode(ms) needed for end game fight.

nurse...charm would of work if reed was an experience vampire but instead he was new born with no experience/knowledge. was first time him trying charm on an npc(strong will one) and he panic also over did it too. he completely erase all her mind.

guess with mary case, when reed had try to stop her bleed his shirt was covered with his blood...err not 100% sure would need see that scene again.

Sorry but that is to be honest a bad excuse. The blood could simply be stached somewhere on the headquarters and we have to find it for example. Or by it being a loot-able from his dead corpse after we kill him

I guess we could use our imagination and pretend like many things could have happened that made her a Vampire, but that is beside the point, it is not our job to have to make up excuses on our mind in oder for the lore to stay true. If the game bothers to stablish a lore, it should not simply break it 10 minutes later.

Same as with the previous example, we should not be the ones having to make excuses to cover up design flaws and lore-breaking story moments.
If the game up until that point has stablished that unlocking and using conversation hints is a positive and rewarded option, then it should simply not break this principle.
The blue text should either be treated as any other dialoge line and not grant any extra XP so that it is not seen as an "special option"; or stay true to being the "better" option in all cases.

You can't kill him because he is the most likely person to return in Vampyr 2 if there's ever going to be one. No matter you turn him or not, he's always going to turn into a vampire. It's even easier to bring him back than reid as reid has 4 endings and too many choices.
Redgrave may be the same case though I'd very much like the option to kill him right now.

Actually you get reward from Ashbury if you choose charm, though the reward is next to nothing compared to its conquence. But they did put the note in your office warning you what effect it may bring with Edgar's note tell you to read it. Just because the option is bad for being a good person doesn't mean it's a badly designed option. In reality you can make so many choices with good intention but turns out the other way so stop complaining or making excuse and stand by your choice.(Though they did play a trick for the option around pillars, the last good option is the bad one for the next.)

Do we have an ETA for the actual 3rd patch release ?

Cheers.

Tiny issue with the beta patch. I had my enemy auto lock set to one of my Corsair's M65 Pro side buttons and the game no longer recognises that binding. It shows in the settings, but none of the extra buttons will actually register when clicked.
