It's the worst relationship development I have seen in years and it's shallow.
*Start of Mild Spoilers*
At the end she confeses to him that she had loved him since the first time she saw him trying to rescue the father. She is a very very old vampire and he is just a newborn....so why the hell she is suddenly so head over heals for a newborn unknown vamp?. Im sure she has seen many.
Maybe she has an oedipus thing going on.....
*End of Mild spoilers*
I just think they rusehd that part....a part that shouldnt be rushed since it's primordial to the endings.
I haven't finished the game yet and just got to the invitation part to her house but I can already see a lot of development. A lot of the immortals seem to be really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in this game haha and the thinking they have is just craving for power. And Jonathan is not like that. He fights that and if you play the no embrace walkthrough it even makes more sense why the lady is interested in him.
Don't say that there might not be any mistakes in the writing as I said haven't finished the game but overall it was not - couple of talks and sex scene.
I definitly noticed the 2nd point above, but I did not think of the 1st, which the link describes in more detail.
Whether one agrees or not on the quality of the romance, it is an interesting POV for a gamer, or a game-maker. Thanks for sharing.
NOt sure if this is related to the above POV or not, but I did notice that there are subtle differences in the characters interactions depending on your game play (that is, how many NPCs you have fed on (which then determines the ending))
For example...
There is a scene where Jonathan walks in on Elizabeth just after she has fed on a patient who would have died soon anyway, in a tent, just outside the hospital. In my first run (London Burning- eat everyone!), The corpse was sprawled on the ground with blood around it, the furniture and supplies/items/belongings was a mess- I forget specifically what the stuff was but they were strewn around etc- possibly indicating either her expressing self-disgust by having a tantrum/knocking over things in the surroundings... or doing it to 'hide'the true cause of death, making it look like a struggle/murder.... or perhaps there was in fact a struggle (just because someone WANTS to die, doesnt mean it will happen gracefully,). .
On my second run (not a nibble / 0 NPCs fed on), when Jonathan finds Elizabeth in that same situation, nothing is in disarray, and the body has a sheet over it, as one would expect done to anyone who had died of any cause, until it was removed..
There were other expamples I noticed while I was playing, but forget ATM, but the devs did put some effort into making some scenes / dialogues changes to reflect how the relationship is progressing / affect the respective characters.
