[Spoiler] Dr Swansea hints
Hello there,
I'm a bit puzzled about Dr Swansea hints. During the course of the game, I completed every investigation I could and only missed a few hints because of "bad" answers (I kinda hate that but it's acceptable). I found all documents I could, search every nook and cranny, got all 30 collectibles, yet one thing seems odd:
When I get to get to decide Dr Swansea fate , I always get one hint and the other failed. I got hint 2 though the game and hint 3 at that moment, but no combination of decision at that point prevents from losing hint 1 forever.
Anyone got a clue ? I'm fine missing it but for every other instance, I knew why, whereas here it seems I couldn't do anything different, since I've been researching everything from the beginning.
Also, I had the infamous "Nightshift" glitch preventing from getting the key and get into the morgue basement, so I know why I miss some hints... But is it tied to this one in any way ? I doubt it.
Answers appreciated ^^

you need to visit him before confession at the st. mary Church during chapter 3,
and just ask him the question whether or not he has had a family member killed by a vampire. then you will get the hint that is as following;

"Edgar would not stand for havning a family member killed by a vampire"

Same issue, hope someone solve this bs.

Xevro I really doubt that. But there is no way to disprove your hypothesis since once dead you don't see the hints the character's screen anymore.

Just for clarity here are the two hints I do have by the time I turned Swansea.
with EXACT WORDAGE.

1: ???
2: Edgar used Lady Ashbury's blood to conduct illicit experiments on Harriet Jones.
3: Edgar considers himself as a maverick among the Brotherhood of Saint Paul's Stole.

You get the second one during the decision scene. And the third one when you talked with him a while back.

I'm going to snoop around in the hospital and see if i missed anything there.

Did anyone figure this out? I'm having this exact problem. I have literally every other hint in the game other than Usher's one that you can only get by reading his journal. This game is maddening for completionists.

Preach!

I think there is a possibility that you get the missing hint from talking to the people in pembroke before the McCallum boss fight. But since I'm way pass that bit of the game I can't test it without replying everything. =/

I am immediately before freeing Swansea and I have spoken to all Pembroke staff (and basically everyone else too), so I don't think its that.

HOWEVER, I have a theory. I discovered by coincidence that it seems like you cannot unlock citizen action investigation hints from Usher. Also, you cannot unlock this particular Swansea hint through Usher. I suspect at some point in the game, you could wait around at Swansea's office or something and investigate his actions to get this hint.

I have been backing up my saves, I might load one to try and confirm.
UnknownVoid Jun 15, 2018 @ 8:01pm
Well, at least in the save game I loaded, there didn't appear to be anything to investigate for Swansea in his office. It is possible that it needs to be during a specific period of the game. However, I forgot that Swansea has 2 hints, one of which is unlocked while freeing him, that is also not unlockable from Usher, so my theory doesn't fly anyway. These major character hints are probably just not available from him.

So my new theory is its either an investigation at a specific point in the game, or like some others have suspected, there is a different hint depending on turning or letting die, and we won't be able to tell because you can't look at dead peoples' hints.

^^^ No I meant talking to the hospital folks BEFORE the McCallum boss fight, right AFTER you dealt with old man Dawson. You are right after the UV disco floor boss fight.

See, I didn't chat with everyone when old briget told me about Swansea missing because that's just too much of a strain on suspension of disbelief for me. My best friend got abducted, I'm not ognna stick around and chat over tea!... But I did chat with some of them, and they had a new chat option (Lower left). If how you get hints for Dawson is anything to go by, the hidden hint is probably hiding right there for Swansea. You are supposed to faff about when he was kidknapped.

How are you guys using different saves and controlling your actions so well?

I am at the Dorothea part and made her disappear because of the misleading option, is there a way to backtrack and choose spare instead?

I'm really close to dump this game in the trash :o
Ferrous Jun 15, 2018 @ 9:07pm
Well, the way to do it is to back up the saves manually. Win+s to open up the search bar, type in %localappdata% and then enter. You are now in the magical limbo land of hidden save data. AVgame is the game's folder for whatever reason (A Vampyr game???), go in there then into ./Saved/SaveGames/ and you will find the files to back up.

Anyway, I don't think autosave is an issue per se, but the problem here is there is no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ way you would ever know what is going to happen for any of the option chosen until it's too late.

Like Ferrous said you either back up your saves manually before you make important decisions or you live with your consequences just like the game TELLS YOU at the very beginning. There are quite a few outcomes that actually surprised me, which very rarely happens in games nowadays, I think we should appreciate that.

Isn't that the beauty of this game? Just like in the witcher 3 decisions come to bite you in the ass when you least expected, it's so refreshing to not a have a game made for monkeys that highlights options in colors like: HEY this is the good guy option coz it's in blue!

I did that, because I've got a hint that way in the previous chapter. I got nothing sadly.
Just like you I rushed to the scene with 15k + exp just sitting there because I had all those cases of "this person will not survive the night" before, but I'm pretty sure this being a main quest it doesn't have a fail state or anything. Also "disco floor boss fight" made me LOL quite hard. That guy was pretty cool as expected, but wtf was with that teleport strike he kept doing? I thought I was the vampire here...
At least it's good to see I didn't ♥♥♥♥ up something since quite a few people are having this problem with Swansea hah.
