I did warn you :p
I came there multiple times, looked everywhere for secret rooms (there are voises coming from the walls all over the theater) even slept with not enough xp to level, just to make them spawn and nothing!?!?!
Eventually i noticed a note on some wall there and only after picking it the mobs spawned. Wtf? Even read guides for it, not a single one mentions any note
After killing one of them, the key for the safe will be added to the inventory.
IF you are going for a "feed on everyone" run, you can read the journal in the safe as it includes the last hint for the quest giver.
IF you want the best sword and access to a hidden area, do NOT read it. You'll loose a "hint" for the quest giver, but doesn't matter.
Also, FWIRW, if you have most of the collectibles, but are missing 1 or maybe 2 for the floor plates to get the sword, it IS possible to guess them. As far as I can tell, it won't be whatever you are standing on, so you have a 1 in 3 chance to guess one of the others, though if missing say 4 and 6, they might be the same i.e. 4 and 6 could be a fish, etc..
