Will I get another shot at investigating citizens?

I have just started playing and upon arriving at the hospital I saw two people who were glowing in vampire vision I walked into the room and chatted with them but it wasn't until later that I found out that the glowing means I have to go to a specific spot to eavesdrop on them.
I haven't seen it go off again for those two, would I get another chance if I sleep for a night or leave the area and come back later?

You will have another chance. Citizens are not glowing anymore only if the eavesdrop sequence has been seen.

Usually you've unlimited tries to investigate citizens.

But there's at least one circumstance where you've only one chance because it's triggered by a quest. There might be some more like that.

During the quest regarding the cure for Harvey Fiddick in the hospital you can give the placebo cure to Dr. Ackroyd. Afterwards he's going upstairs and you can eavesdrop on him. At least until now i never saw him go upstairs again since then - and i was actually waiting in the hospital for a pretty long time
