Is this a real rpg?

From what I've seen it looks like a pretty linear story, are there even meaningful sidequests? And is there meaningful choices?

really wish they would stop calling action adventure games RPG's simply because you can level up. Sorry this is not an RPG at all.

That's not at all accurate to what we've been shown so far, but who knows what the final product will be. (Hopefully the final product will be better than what we've seen so far..)

Yeah, the game is hyped behind what we've been shown so far, but we have been told that the game is semi open world. Actually, while google just the term "semi-open world" I found this that literally disputes all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ arguments about this not being an RPG. https://techraptor.net/content/semi-open-world-confirmed-vampyr

By that logic, Sonic games are RPGs because you play the role of a blue hedgehog that runs fast. RPGs, in the traditional sense, usually allow players to pick their own roles. It's akin to how saying a game is in "Alpha" or in "Beta" doesn't mean anything because people just assume those terms mean that it's an early demo.
