Don't feed him
Yes, supposedly it is the best wall trap out of Grinder, Wall Blades, Arrow Wall and Wall Chargers. The main drawback is its cost. For the same money you can usually put down 1 to 2 wall blades.
So basically if you are not playing Endless, Sabotage or some modifiers of Chaos Trials, then you can skip the trap completely and just use Wall Blades.
1.) cursed ground, tar, floor spikes, (grinder or wall blades), arcane bowling ball, dragon's lance.
2.) fire cracker, floor scorcher, vicsous trar, sloor spikes, spitfire wall, wall blades.
3.) saw of arctos, ice shard, ice vent, floor spikes, (wall blades or arrow wall), ceiling ballista.
4.) floor scorcher, viscous tar, flor spikes, wall blades, haymaker, boom barrel roller.
and just for kicks
5.) flip trap, push trap, spike wall, haymaker, (coin forge or power generator), mana well. (i also have gnomish repair kit in this build.)
The MVP is the push trap, which is amazingly effective when slotted with stunning accumulator, double spring, and kinetic reclaimer. Extremely cost efficient for the control and damage in the right setup.
Steam Vent, Push Trap, Pounders, Blades/Grinders, Arrow Wall, Decoy. Thats my Max Loadout, and it works really well.
Temper load out - Steam, Brimstone, Floor Scorchers, Fire Cracker, Spitfire wall, Blades. I sometimes switch out Spitfire for something like Spike Trap with the fire resanator.
No tar?
Your thinking the Overload trap. You can do some cool stuff with it but you can't make a kill box with it, more like a murder hallway. Basically, surround them with haymakers and they vaporize anything caught in them due to the air multiplier. Throw in Web Spinners and Floor scorchers (they can outrange the trap disable) for extra effect.
Edit: Fun Fact: Trip Wires will reset traps disabled by the Overload Trap
how do you miss an obvious joke
Nope, Steam trap replaced tar in my build, Dont get me wrong Tar is great! And very useful! but being able to throw lighter minions into the air to get punded on by pounders or haymakers ect is so worth it in high ceiling areas.
If you can kill the lighter minions with steam vent and pounders all you have to worry about are the heavy mininons coming in though the gate and clean up the stragalers....
