Helpful hints and tips for drivers
I thought this might be a help to those just starting with Fernbus and be a work in progress to encourage others to contribute helpful tips.
It is always the most difficult thing to bring to a simulator the things that actually makes it a simulation of reality. Traffic behavior is perhaps the most complex of all to get the right balance; which is why there are settings for both density and event management. The higher the traffic density and event; the greater potential for accidents, bottlenecks and traffic jams.
So if you want a nice smooth drive from city to city.....don't have your traffic density set above 50%......there are junctions in cities that are set pretty close together...they would in reality need box junction status i.e you cannot enter the box unless your exit is clear....however, in Fernbus it is a free for all and there is the potential for long delays. Of course you might want to experience realistic delays and have the challenge of meeting the schedule.
If you want perfect scores for your trip then you must observe the traffic distance ( two car lengths) at all times even at junctions. Personally unless there is an accumulated offence tariff it matters not one jot, because there are still sections of road that have incorrect speed signage and faulty radar traps, so attaining that perfect score on certain trips is unattainable.
There are areas where there are road works and the traffic lanes narrow.....always approach these areas in the outside lane ( the approach to these ares is normally indicated by speed reductions 130...100...80 kph etc) the inside lane is not suitable for the width of bus and you will incur light accident penalties from either scraping the side of the bus on the arnco or hitting traffic on the outside lane. The outside lane is wider.
At speeds of 100 kph it is not always easy to read autobahn junction signs...especially where the autobahn splits into four lanes...you might find it easier to stay in the third of four lane on the approach that way you will be able to manoeuvre to follow the route map and lessen the risk of colliding with following traffic.
If you know of any other helpful tips please add.

i find sticking to about 80 on the motorway/autobahn allows me to see everything clearly (even in the rain) and has me arriving at my destination a lot closer to my time than booting it at 100kph.

That is very true...then agin you might incur the wrath of the passengers when they get annoyed that you are driving too slow....lol

no, thats the thing, anything over 70 on the motorway and they are happy. :D

thanks for the tip.....wish they were as obliging when it came to speed reduction when leaving the motorway...lol

tell me about it, i can keep them quiet for almost the whole journey, but coming off the motorway its "we are going to tip over" or "i know cab drivers better than you"

That reminds me....because of the lack of provision of adequate rest stops you might need to do 100 kph or run over driver time...perhaps they might introduce more rest stops and have fixed penalties for driver run out in a future update.
The kind of penalty I was thinking of is a zero points...bit harsh I know but in reality the pnaltyis even harsher.

i agree. 1 thing they need to address is the invisible walls in the cities, they serve no purpose as in a car (one of the hidden achievements) you can drive straight under the XXXXXX and have no restrictions

You can turn them off in the game options so that they wont be seen (and probably vanish with the hitbox too).

i know that, i drive with no overlay, ie. no mirrors and i use the gps in the cab :D
hidden walls still block the coach when made invisible :(, but if i hijack a car i can drive under the barrier even if they are visible :steamhappy:

(50+ hours played)

In general I find you need to drive 20-30 below the posted speed limit to avoid getting steering misbehaviors from tipping too much.

great post, nuff said.

Sounds like good advice about lowering the speed.
