Stuck at Chapter 1 - dev help possible?

Hello devs,

my gf installed this game yesterday (or maybe two days ago) and started playing until an error occurred. She complained about stucking at Chapter 1 maybe caused by a bug. So I decided trying to get an answer to it.

When she gets the extinguisher, she's not able to extinguish the fire with it. The extinguisher does make a sound (but no visual effects) when she uses it onto the fire, but it has no effect on the fire - it still burns.

She also tried everything identical to different gameplay videos she watched after this incident, to be sure it wasn't an operating error, but the fire still burns and no chance to get forward at this point.

Could you please help with this problem? Or maybe, if it's not a bug quick to fix, could you please help with a savegame right after that fire? (She's really excited with this game and want to get through it.)

Hey, Nero (cool name). Sorry you're having this problem.

It can be a little confusing and touchy (something I'll have to take a look at soon), but are you holding down the fire extinguisher? Once you have the fire targeted, you have to keep holding it down until the fire disappears.

I will try to tweak it in a future update, but for now, you *should* be able to blast through it. I haven't seen this problem before, so I'm hoping it's just confusing. :p

Yup, my gf showed the scene to me and how she handles it, also I tried it myself on her pc - in the end we both did it the same way:

- first trying: pushing and holding down the left mouse the whole time when the game showed the text for it -> extiguisher does make a sound, but no graphics (also it doesn't make a continuous sound, just one short sound per holding down)

- then trying to click left mouse over and over again -> same thing, there's the sound, but no graphics (even here just a short sound per click)

We tried this over and over again at different spots, distances and camera angles - unfortunately with no success :(

After this we watched some gameplay videos to this part, did everything identically, but our extinguisher doesn't work and it's frustrating, cause everyone else can continue while we stuck at this damn fire :s

I also tried to check the installed files, but Steam didn't find any corrupt ones.

Do we have a chance of getting a functioning savegame right before this fire?


It's really a great game, awesome atmosphere and sound design & the story is really nice! :))

Shoot! So sorry this is still an issue you're having it and I am just seeing it now. Let me create a save now and send you that.

I will also take another look into what might be causing this.

OK, so I still can't reproduce this, but I will say that aiming at the fire can be a bit touchy.

That said, I created 2 save files, 1 right before the fire, and one at the start of Chapter 2.

Hi, long time no feedback, sorry for this.

So for both of us, my girlfriend and me, the sent savegame file unfortunately didn't work - the fire extinguisher doesn't work at all and so we're stuck at the fire blocking the passage :/
