IGN give this one 4.8
I looking forward to this for a long time. But this score....oh god

PC Gamer gave it a 50.
I heard that folks at IGN can be very bad in video games sometimes (like overly slow actions and decisions etc.)

I hope this is true
If anyone still thinks that IGN can give even remotely accurate reviews they are delusional and in dire need of a reality check

You really should stop looking at their website. It's known that they know nothing about video-games at all since like forever.

Well... IGN also gave Alien: Isolation a 5.9 and I thought Alien was fantastic.
I remember gamespot people complaining that it's so annoying to save, because the alien always grabs you, you never get that when you ltp this game :P (isolation)
I never go by other people's reviews, i mean i have my own mind and opinion, i am sure you do too.

The only thing that is abit off putting is the fact that you got to use echo-location to see anything, which is the point of the game, but the echo-location also attracts the enemies, so you got to use it sparingly to avoid attracting the enemies.

Not sure why you couldn't do ther echo-location and it records where everything stationary is and makes it a permanent thing to make it kind of easier to navigate...but that is also one of the points of the game......but its still annoying, but the game overall is fun to play.

It is far better than a 4.8, the reviewer obviously couldn't handle the challenge or there wasn't a plasma pack and a trap or they weren't a grimm and just kill the thing and to avoid admitting that they were too scared or couldn't handle it, they say its ♥♥♥♥......my brother is like that sometimes.
Try not to focus too much on the actual score and more on the the pros and cons then read other reviews and if you see them also have similar pros and cons well thats a good sign that those things are worth taking into account.

Everyone tends to have their own way of scoring games, some are still using a prehistoric scoring system that was designed at a time where they had less tools and variables to work with and consider
well from what I can see while watching a walkthrough, the game feels a bit slow early on, and some of the voicing feels kinda, cheap? maybe cringe? Its not bad per se but something doesnt feel right about it. Of course the main story about this husband doing medical things to his wife while pregnant is laughable because of how cliche it is, but the MC is interesting and the sound thing is very amazing

IGN are tossers, only follow user/unofficial reviews; the only thing stopping me from snagging this is that I'm waiting to see if the devs enable rebinds in their next patch, it's on gog so it's almost an insta-buy from me anyways!

Americans are notoriously crappy with localization 90% of the time, (I'm guessing this ain't news to you as it's clear you're an anime/JVG fan) while setting the bar for domestic releases, why European game developers consistently use crappy American VA when they could use actual UK localization is beyond me!
I prefer to not base my assumption on reviews with numbers. Reviews with numbers in general is less organized and sloppy.

I'm pretty sure TheDeepEnd are based in the US and not only that, I'm sure Perception is also set in the US.
Sorry, complete reflex on my part, (This humble pie tastes too much like my foot! ;)) whenever I read about shoddy voice work I think of bad North American localization, ironically 90% of domestic Voice acting is magnificently done!
The only thing that I have to agree on them is the randomness of the monster. you can sometimes tap your cane like crazy and nothing will happen, but i've seen walkthroughs where the monster will appear on totally different places. I think

in the most ideal setting it will announce itself and you have to memorize if there's a hiding place around and quickly run to that remain there until the world is no longer orange. I had that in chapter 2 and sucessfully evaded it.

Then I suddenly got it when I went down the stairs of the attic the second time, i took one step back without crouching and i got attacked. I found that a bit unfair but well yeah my heels made noise I guess. I guess the prime reaction when the world turns orange should be that you immediately crouch. There goes that achievement :) Also I didnt really have a hiding place. Maybe when I play a second time I'll have to investigate.

It would be cool if when you do the whole echo-location that the stationary objects like counters, hiding spots remain visible, since its always there and unmoveable...i know the character is blind and all, but wouldn't she remember where it was and for ingame reasons, it remains viewable onscreen.
A blind person always has a mental "image" of stuff they discover , thats why they like everything to be on their own place. I'm visually impaired myself and i got the same thing. I need my mother not to displace things without my notice. I can be chaotic in my own order because I know where I place stuff.

Big boxes and obstacles are always something blind people make a mental memory of, chests, and pointy objects like door knobs, suspensions for the coats & jackets etc... THey already do that with the doorways, they're all green because blind people know where the doors in the house are. You also see that it happens for some chests (i've even noticed a chest where it doesn't happen in chapter 2 but that's a bug I think). Maybe we can have an easy mode where crucial hiding places are always lit ? in 6th sense ?
