No Cards when Free

Find it a bit scummy that when the game turned free for that short time period and many people got it that the game no longer awards you steam trading cards, and since you are not eligible for trading cards, you can never randomly get a booster pack from this game because you still have card drops remaining. Not going to say the game is bad, the game is amazing. But as someone who collects and sells trading cards, this is a bit on the feels bad side.

This is not new. A couple years ago now, all free promos no longer drop cards, and will be this way into the future. Not the developers, it's Valve's doing.

That's just extra levels of dumb on Valves part. Can't get the cards I'd normally get, because I can't get the cards, can't even get boosters passively. Big 5head move on Valves part.

I think you will get cards if you purchase DLC, this is the way other free promos have worked.

That's just how steam's trading card system works. If you don't spend money on a game you don't get trading cards.

Also, did you buy the complete edition or bought DLCs individually?

I got the Secrets of The Maw Expasion Pass (which includes all DLC)

If you sum up the value of thousands of cards given to the endcustomer it is quite understandable. Bad solution to handle it this way but understandable. Maybe a traderestriction would be the better solution and raise the chance that these cards are more attractive in the end.
But with the "new" Pointstore the whole Cardthing and has become secondary in my opinion. Some sense gets lost while it....developes and cuts itself. IT these days...with prior optimisation on the moneyflow, not usability.

And some things brought us to these strange miscalculated prices for Profiledesigncollections. It just stacks...

Easy fix. Stop giving games for free.

Gamers complain regardless.
They complain that publishers are greedy with their high prices.
So, when the publisher gives it to them for nothing... still they complain. This time, cards.
