Retracting bridge, can't grab onto box

So about 20 min into the game and we're stuck at this retracting bridge that has a box (in walkthroughs I've seen, they just jump up and grab the box), and it's pretty much just not working. Is this a bug? Am I doing something wrong? Tried this about 100 times

You're supposed to hold the grab button as well to grab onto ledges, can't just jump up and automatically grab.

I have thought of this, did a bunch of test grabs on boxes around the section before the bridge (with the scorching eyeball thing) just to make sure. Yeah maybe I'll try it out on keyboard and see if that solves the problem. Sucks getting 20 min into a sweet game with your gf and then you're stuck lol... oh well.

I'm in the same place and stuck too. The grab mechanic is completely unreliable. FWIW I'm using keyboard only. Really frustrating. Not sure I can like the game when such a basic movement is nerfed.

Thanks for your reply Funboy, hopefully we can figure this thing out- the game is really cool but like you said, why such a basic problem here?
