Hello all, I co-host a weekly horror video game podcast called Zero Brightness. This week we are continuing our discussion about 2.5D Cinematic Platformers in the world of horror gaming.

Little Nightmares is undoubtedly a future hidden gem. For some reason it flew under the radar of a lot of players, despite it receiving generally high reviews and currently having an "overwhelmingly positive" review summary on Steam. It plays similarly to other 2.5D platformers like Limbo and Inside, but despite the game still designed about "walking to the right", the character has full 360 degree movement in diorama-like environments. The art style is very reminiscent of the stop-motion animations of The Brothers Quay and Tim Burton with a heavy dose of Edward Gorey, and the game oozes this atmosphere throughout, including the fantastic score. While most of the puzzles are fairly typical of the cinematic platformer genre, the game adds a lot of stealth and hiding elements too. And you'll want to hide, because the monsters in this game are legitimately freaky.

Despite being really short, the game is a great little experience, and it's regularly on sale for less than $10, and at that price point it's hard to pass up.
