Why the boy that gave Six the bread cant be the runaway kid

Simple, it's the timing. As you may know the runaway kid wasn't in the prison since he escaped with the girl. An then he was in the prison again when he got caged and when six ate the flesh. So bsically the kid that gave Six the bread is someone else.

The developers said it's not, but that they're both "eerily similar"

He simply might be a random child who success to escape to the janitor, or maybe one of the children in the comics

You have no clue how old that post I made was, not to mention how far back I'd have to dig to even GET that proof. Edit: Since I can't find the old tweet, I can give you easy proof but from the timeline in-game.

The Runaway kid's story starts out a bit before Six's story in the timeline. By around the start of the second DLC chapter, the bread kid would have already given six the bread, and the runaway kid has already been kidnapped by the Janitor and put inside a sack, escaping it shortly after. You can even see Six through a camera in a somewhat hidden spot.

This is the reason they can’t be the same.

Six enters The prison using sheets tied together that the runaway kid used to escape the prison.

Six could not have entered before he escaped as the sheets weren’t there at that time.

By the time six arrives he was already gone.
