Why is the blood black in the game?

It's not. There is plenty of red blood throughout the game, mostly dark red. If it's black, it's more than likely ink from the leeches.

But yeah, that's pretty much all I can think of as to why the blood appears black in-game. I hope this gets somehow answered on the DLC at least.

Excuse me, what? I was giving you a clear answer. There are quite a number of spots where blood is clearly red or at least dark red, if it's black it's more likely either from the children's drawings or the leeches. I'm not sure what you want me to "read". It looks like you're only looking for theories on it. If you want good theories, you have to pay attention to the logic as well.
