Internet required?
This is a single player game, why is "Broadband internet connection" required to play?

It most likely says that due to the 3rd party eula. Since technically the eula is a step after installation it will probably have to be ran once while connected to the internet then be fine afterwards

It must be to activate the game through Steam

That's not what I'm talking about.

All games you buy through any download service obviously need an internet connection to install and first activate whether you buy from steam or anywhere online with digital download

But the actual requirements to play are just for the gameplay itself, not the installation. There's 1000's of games on steam that require steam to "install" it, none of them list an internet requirement if they are single player games

The majority of games I own on steam can be played in offline mode. Even if a single player game has some optional online feature (like leaderboards) it will usually not list an internet connection under "required" it would list internet under "recomended" and than in parenthesis (for specific features) to note that it isn't required for gameplay but only needed for optional features

So I'm asking why is listed under requirements as if it's an always required thing? Unless they are using a DRM that requires a constant internet connection. Those types of DRM are highly annoying for single player games. It means you can't use your games when you travel or if your inernet is having a bad day.

A big portion of my library is able to be played offline

I dont see why we need an internet connection to play a single player game. If this is the case... I'll refund the second I open the game and see that I need internet connection.

I would just like a nice reason to why we need an internet connection for singleplayer. I dont understand and would like to know.

I will take a gamble and say it's using that horrible DRM that everyone loves so much.

The person simply asked what it was, you don't need to be insulting.

Basically anti-piracy, one method that is unpopular among many gamers is being connected to the developer's servers otherwise you can't play the game.

No answer for the OP then?

It is confirmed as DRM-free over on GOG.com, can't see any confirmed info about the Steam version but it's very doubtful it has DRM.

Maybe broadband is required just for the Steam cloud saving?

Steam is not drm. There are plenty of games in steam that has no drm.
Also games with steamworks drm can be played offline. So no idea why this game require internet connection.
Hey, you can buy on GOG anyway. It doesn't require internet there.

Some games refuse to launch if you are offline, especially the Denuvo ones. I'll confirm if this is the case with this game or else I am getting the GOG version. Same thing happened with Raiden IV which I should have gotten on GOG too. Or else I'll have to create a Wifi spot with my smartphone prior to launching it

You can play offline. Just downloaded, started game online, quit game, turned off internet then restarted game with Steam in offline mode with no problems, played about 10 minutes with no issues.
