CRASH - Black Screen on start
I just downloaded the game and I try to run it, but it keeps forever on a black screen. Anyone has faced this same problem ? If so, there is a solution to this ?

I manage to solve this problem by just restarting the PC just after the Install in Steam.

Try to turn off and on again your machine. If still persist the problem, try checking the integrity of the files on Steam and download the game again.

I really hope that the developers build a patch to fix this problem ...

After the restart the black screen disappeared and the game executed normally every time I run it.

For those of you using amd processor, amd graphics card, and AMD/Radeon drivers, the drivers are the problem (at least for me). Here is what happened to me:

1) Upgraded to AMD RX 580 graphics card
2) Installed latest Radeon drivers for Windows 10 and restarted
3) Started up Little Nightmares game and got only a black screen.
4) Restarted the PC and tried again, same black screen
5) In task manager, disabled anything that said AMD and Radeon
6) Started up Little Nightmares game and got only black screen, but this time I got the loading eye icon on the bottom right of the screen. The game did not advance from there.
7) Uninstalled Radeon drivers and restarted PC
8) Started up Little Nightmares game and the game started and played as normal.

The game still looks awesome without the drivers installed. The sound gets glitchy, but not within the game itself. Only system sounds that I have noticed. I will not be reinstalling drivers until I finish the game.

I hope this helps someone that has a similar build as me. Happy New year!

Solved it.

You have to edit the config file in :

<path-to-game>\Atlas\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\GameUserSettings.ini

And change the resolution to the native of your screen.
The game tried for to launch with a not supported resolution by default and that causes the black screen.

Hope it helps.

Game does not work on my system. It is just a lousy piece of software. Thousands of developers are capable of releasing working games. But obviously some are not.

yeah

For anyone interested, I tried several of the following but ultimately had to change a bunch of settings in the GameUserSettings.ini (Go to game > click gear icon > manage local files > Atlas > Saved > Config > WindowsNoEditor > GameUserSettings.ini) to the following:

[/script/engine.gameusersettings]
bUseDesiredScreenHeight=True

[ScalabilityGroups]
sg.ResolutionQuality=100.000000
sg.ViewDistanceQuality=1
sg.AntiAliasingQuality=1
sg.ShadowQuality=1
sg.PostProcessQuality=1
sg.TextureQuality=1
sg.EffectsQuality=1
sg.FoliageQuality=1

[/script/tarsierutilities.targameusersettings]
AntiAliasingQuality=Low
AmbientOcclusionQuality=Low
DepthOfFieldQuality=Low
BloomQuality=Low
EffectsQuality=Low
PostProcessingQuality=Low
ShadowQuality=Low
TextureQuality=Low
SelectedPreset=Low
GraphicsSettingsMappings=()
PCFirstTimeLaunch=False
bUseVSync=False
ResolutionSizeX=1920
ResolutionSizeY=1080
LastUserConfirmedResolutionSizeX=1920
LastUserConfirmedResolutionSizeY=1080
WindowPosX=-1
WindowPosY=-1
bUseDesktopResolutionForFullscreen=True
FullscreenMode=1
LastConfirmedFullscreenMode=1
PreferredFullscreenMode=1
Version=5
AudioQualityLevel=0
FrameRateLimit=0.000000
DesiredScreenWidth=1920
DesiredScreenHeight=1080
LastRecommendedScreenWidth=1920.000000
LastRecommendedScreenHeight=1080.000000
LastCPUBenchmarkResult=-1.000000
LastGPUBenchmarkResult=-1.000000
LastGPUBenchmarkMultiplier=1.000000

Basically forcing the resolution to my screen's native resolution and reducing all quality settings to low
