A quicksave mechanic might be helpful, that or streamline the controls. Maybe have the game orient (aim-assist) the player a wee bit, not enough to piss off the master race, just enough to make a two hour game not take 5 hours because of confusing deaths. I'm no developer, just a guy who plays games and recognizes when they stop being fun and start being a chore. As it stands I usually have to give up on this game after I die a couple times because I'm so bored running all the way back through the same environment only to die again.
Everything about the game is fantastic the only thing holding it back is the needlessly clunky controls. It sucks that companies have been making 2.5d games for like 30 years now and they still can't iron stuff like this out more easily.
The controls are pants, even the bindings are kind of wacky. The game is nice though and I'm still enjoying it.
playing with controller makes jumping onto ropes and such a chore.
It's all caused by the depth. I would have liked this game if it were 2D. But as a 3D platformer? Nah not for me at all.
But as I said, the game is not for me, I don't actually think the controls are objectively bad.
I don't know who thought this was ready to release before fixing this huge mistake.
Im on a official Xbox One controller. So the jump only actually jumps 60% of the time and can be so laggy in timing. Holding on, cant guarantee, run is fine but can keep going a little after letting go and forget it if you want to run then jump.. no chance. And the camera angle is so bad with the walking direction. I have fallen off countless stairs, ledges, platforms etc. It got so frustrating. It did remind me of the old days of laggy controllers, but with a game that needs timing and direction to succeed, no thanks! Shame
