So what happened at Wolcen Studio's?...
Their was apparently a mass exodus shortly after or before they released the game back in 2020 ...something like two thirds of the employees just left...why I don't know. But they were obviously not happy..
They hired more people, but picking up someone else's code ain't easy from what I understand. I worked at a developer many years ago where the exact same thing happened...bunch of disgruntled employees left and everything they did in the last month or two had to be redone. I was working at the company as an artist and people who normally did amazing work suddenly started doing either F#ckall or the quality of their work just decreased to the point were we could not use it at all. I am not sure if it was the same on the programming side...long time ago. I have till this day never played that game....it was f*cking awful...lol. Just not my type of game at all.

I am speculating but I would'nt be surprised if that's what happened at wolcen studio's....that perhaps these people who left did'nt care much for what they were doing anymore.
I think they had to release cause they ran out of cash, it was either that or they would risk losing everything they worked for. Then huge success that they did'nt expect. But now what....how we gonna fix all this Sh*t. So I have sympathy for this type of situation.
Again that's pure speculation...the mass exodus on release is fact though.

I only played a tiny bit after purchasing the game 2 weeks prior to release and did'nt run into any serious bugs.
But decided that I would rather shelf it before I do run into all those nasty bugs...wait for the devs to release act 4. They finally did and i am back and so far half way thrue act 2. So far I am very impressed...some minor bugs so far. I know I am gonna be getting more the closer I get to endgame. Just glad to see they actively fixing bugs, finally addressing the serious one's and they did'nt just grab the cash and make a run for it like so many predicted. I do believe their is hope for Wolcen....having an absolute blast and i am also playing Last Epoch again for the first time in 3 years....having just as much fun while playing that...
I hope both titles have a great and prosperous future. I ofc am playing both in offline...never had the slightest interest in multiplayer. I believe that they both are facing a slippery slope while fixing all the bugs...that's the nature of bug fixing, fixing one minor bug can cause another to appear. So lets say you fix 5 bugs and end up creating 3 new one's... you still gradually getting less bugs...As long as the devs don't lose hope...that's all that matter...

Sources and References to this claim?
Speculations are heresay, and not admissible in court, much less the general public.

Don't worry, i'll wait...

Don't know what happened in the past. I kept hearing how buggy and bad this game was but finally decided to buy it on sale for $10.00 a few weeks ago and have been hooked since. I don't get a lot of game time anymore but I've put in a solid 60+ hours so far. Playing end game, and loving it.

I'd like to support the studio more then just the cost of the game. I feel they would benefit more if they went F2P with cosmetics and a battle pass for purchase.

And that was not even where I learned it from, it was from one of Aaron's podcasts, wich often listen to, could not remember wich one, went searching now after coming home from work and stumbled upon this video i posted above. His not a big fan of wolcen but his had some positive things to say from time to time. As far as wolcen studio's ...i hope things are better now....
i like to believe so cause you can tell that much from how their patches are way more regular and consistent. Not to say that the people who left was incompetent...but it ain't fun to work in a toxic environment..., new blood can sometimes turn things around. So i hope things are better now. I know trust me. Some people just don't get along and i myself often had a very quick temper, In hind site I think at the company i worked at it started polarizing the team, even if the quality of their work was slowly declining, they had some valid reasons to be upset. I was a bit older than most and did'nt wanne get too involved.

Working at a game studio is not all fun and games....it can get extremely demanding at times. Deadlines can get very hectic....you must be able to work under pressure and crunch periods means going without sleep sometimes....so yeah just so all you kids know...there are politics just like in any other company...
