P2P feature
Won't it make sense anyway. 4 players coop, no PvP... I mean come on. What is the point to not have it ? Look at Grim Dawn online system. It is pretty nicely done and smooth.

Nothing prevents you to have Online and "Local" multiplayer beside your strategy of implementing a cash shop in the future. Seeing how you struggle with your current servers and capacity to run a game online, I can only advice to have both feature in this game.

Wat? No, it's just laggy and unreliable.
iHaku Feb 15, 2020 @ 11:23pm
its only laggy if the person hosting has ♥♥♥♥ internet lol. especially locally there's no way any server could ever come close to the same speed as a peer to peer connection unless you're literally plugged into the server.

I disagree with you on that. It all come down to the netcode quality and players internet access.

I have been playing p2p in many games and never really had any problem.

There is severaly way they could do it. Provide lan and let player use Steam remote play. works like a charm. Or a real p2p option letting creating player temp host server etc..

One last option they could allow us is to create private servers. renting small VR today is really cheap.

But honestly the cash shop they want is too appealing for them and it is their business model.. why will they let this go away ? they would love to be like PoE. They are dreamers those french guys... big ones :)

Yes, which I covered with unreliable.

I've got your point. But it will be the same if I wanted to play with my friends anyway on a server. They will have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ connection to play no matter what and will just lag on a remote server.. So all in all I rather like to have my option open and been able to play a game anytime I want without having to depend on a third party service provider maintenance.

Also playing LAN at home with my wife like we do for TL2 could be really really nice :)

I get it. If they could do both, then it seems aight.

And don't get me wrong. I am all for playing over internet and having whatever shop they want to add... I do not mind.

Just asking for a bit more options and feature in the future

You found two good examples of P2P. Cool. Did you know that For Honor, Vermintide 2, Gauntlet and such games also use P2P and if you get bad hosts the gameplay turns into a turn-based teleportfest? Hence why I prefer dedicated servers.

Cool. You found 3 games from completely different genres. For Honor hasnt even been using P2P for years now. lol
Its very hard to get bad hosts when i know who i will be playing with, so its either me hosting or a friend. You can host dedicated yourself too if they developers let you and give you the files, older games like Jedi Knights and old COD games or even recent ones like Miscreated, Terraria and Starbound lets you do this.

Wolcen has neither of these. Extremely anti-consumer and not player-friendly. If we could use P2P or host our servers we wouldnt be having any of these online server problems right now, becase we wouldnt be depending on the devs entirely.

Im glad you prefer dedicated servers by the devs, i prefer what works. This obviously does not work. For 3 days now.

Sorry but you are wrong here. P2P is not a problem in games like this. 2-4 players on a non server static world is not a problem. Actually a dedicated server doesnt make sense.

Vermintide is a bit different since there are lots of enemies and everything has to be in sync especially since its an FPS. Still if you live in an area where there are other players there probably wont be problems - if you live somwhere where there are huge distances - yes there will be problems.

Not the fault of the nature of network that it doesn't work, I feel like.

Good to know, I thought it'd be similar to my previous experiences. I stand corrected then.

Still, I play with distant people so I'd have problems, so I'd prefer dedicated. Or both if possible (I'm a tech newb).
