My review is sure outdated and was made when the game had more issues. That said my point here is not the old issues but what the game is tyoday: a blandd arpg with a limited number opf skills and limited build variety that is still inmcomplete on its story side after well over 2 years.
Let's face it, this fgame failed and pretty much noone is interested in it, even a new story artc will not bring back solid numbers and it seems teh studio has pretty muich moved on. once bitten, twice shy, I will personally not buy anything these guys make next, happy you like it, I don't and still think it deserve teh rating it is hetting, even if it is not as riddled with bugs as it once was.
Early access started in March 2016, with the game in alpha state. It was supposed to be available first only for those who pledged more than $35 but, after a first ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (because people who didn't made the project possible through KS could have access to the alpha directly while many backers had to wait for beta or release), they made the EA available for every backers.
To be noted that the change from Umbra to Wolcen happened between that prototype and the start of the Early Access.
That's pretty dishonest.
LE is not released yet. It is still in EA.
You are comparing a game not released with a KS in 2018 and a game released two years ago with a KS in 2015.
LE multiplayer is here but not available for everyone yet. But will be available this year, so ~4 years after KS.
Wolcen had a first test of the multiplayer in 2018 but it became available in game with the beta in 2019, so ~4 years after KS.
This game is incredible. The quality is insanely good. It's always sad when the best games die. I miss Marvel Heroes on a daily basis.
Said noone ever, incredible game? Insabelky good quality? Is this the only game you ever played?
There are a lot of great games on Steam, sorry to say that Wolcen is not part of them, not by a very long shot. The fact that the studiois imploding is result of the game not being that great.
I don't care what you think.
Then why do you even bother answering? Incredible games never get average ratings, you're free to not care about what everyobne's think tho.
I don't. Mindless sheep mean nothing to me.
I personally don't spend time responding to sheeps, even the minded ones, you do you tho.
If you have noything to say it is best to avoid saying anything.
Then quality drops, with things even the devs are not happy about (Apocalyptic Aspects, Act 3, itemization, crafting, etc).
Hey there! Let me try to answer your questions:
+ damage on spells does exactly as it says. Every ability with the "spell"-tag gets the damage added. So even a frost spell can do a bit of fire damage with that bonus.
Additionally it can also trigger ailments but only the highest type of damage (that is not physical) is considered. So if your skill does 50% fire, 30% frost and 20% lightning damage the skill can only apply burn.
With the perk for +1 additional ailment type, that skill would also apply freeze because frost is the second highest dmg type.
You can see what type of ailments your skill apply at what rate and the exact composition of damage types in your character screen (press c -> click on skills).
I hope that helps!
Cheers
Anyway, other than that I find it a good game really. I will definitely come back once again before D4 to check whether the lag is fixed.
Call me crazy but Im enjoying Diablo Immortal! lool These new servers are much less p2w
However you need to put some money to have fun otherwise its slow, grinding process. BUT if you dont compare urself to others you might actualy have more fun as it is chalenging. My advice would be to wait for special deals that occur everytime you achievement goes up.
Dual wield is standard and you gain a speed bonus for doing so, Sword and board means you're going to smash everything in the face with that shield as standard/part of rolling combo, dodge rolls are standard with their own pips of stamina a diet version of 'souls' roly-poly which has gotten me out numerous mob crowd overwhelms and boss attacks; Pistols [dual wield also] exist and who doesn't want to borderline Max Payne there way through a swath of fire demons with a pair ice pistols... as it stands at the moment I have a 2h great sword self build who currently has 75% chance to have upto 20 stacks/ticks of fire d.o.t, have the removed the -25% attack speed weight debuff from via passives and levels, has war shout that give me 25%+ attack speed 10% damage buff, causing mid to low damage to enemies in range, gives 8% to all resistances plus a permanent passive that increases attack speed by 1% per hit which maxes at 50%, also a three hit spell combo I made up: piecing hammer throw, a shield/shoulder charge, call the same hammer back for more damage, then slam another hammer on the ground which causes an aoe and adds to the d.o.t from previously! Wolcen makes arse whuppin' enjoyable.
Stats are just not the same a other arpgs strng, Dex, Int don't factor into the game instead its... Ferocity: Crit damage+Crit chance, Wisdom: Magic dot dmg+ chance to proc and Toughness: health + shield points. Agilty: attack speed + spell cast speed [rightly corrected by Peredur]
Passives and stats on all gear make the build, which I got used to but as game choice... might not have been such a good Idea, however, with some learning, it does work yet can be odd when you go back to the tradition stats in other arpg's
Magic is locked to the weapon type unfortunately guns+bow: long range attacks, escape tatics. 1h: cqc, charge or escape tactics 2h: cqc, charge, aoe. Staves: all magic only. Catalyst allow for use of all skills with a 1h in main hand.
Wolcen... wants to beat the ♥♥♥♥ out of you and equal wants you to do the same to it; Like most arpgs' the first few levels let you off but after a while enemies on Wolcen just get...weird or big and weird or big, spawn loads of little impish creatures which charge you then the big charges you too. I could go on. Don't get me wrong the endgame is disappointing on a superficial level, but hey I get to be a bounty hunter/project manager/lady of court earned through combat for a city state that I literally saved from some ♥♥♥♥ up ♥♥♥♥..."what was that? you want me to go through this one way portal to hunt down a demon obelisk in an inescapable pit, which will spawn a horrendous amount of demons, which will increase in size, health, resistances to damage oh and the obelisk will be impervious to damage whilst the spawned mobs still live...then once defeated take it's broken arse...I mean, resources for the City!? I can do that.
