Why so many bad reviews? SIMPLY ANSWER

I criticise the game a lot, but we really don't really need another one of these posts. This has been rehashed a 1000 times and doesn't actually help with anything.

It informs new potential players, and tells the devs that we haven't forgotten how badly they screwed us.
Every time I see the early trailers, and remember how excited I was to back the game, only to try and play the garbage that they gave us? It just infuriates me more.
Not as bad as CDPR did with Cyberpunk, but this is till 100% a bait-and-switch.

What have you smoked and can I get some?

Cyberpunk is still Cyberpunk while Wolcen has nothing to do with the former game called Umbra, which I actually bought.

Just your regular grudges. With out taking into account all the patches, content the game has recived. Just pure hate on hating'.
And doesn't help at all in nothing, is just as this people want the game to fail at all cost. Geez..

Ya. Its healthy to hold grudges for years. Especially over a video game. We all know how important it is. Maybe you can tell your grand kids how the great Wolcen famine of the early 20s ruined your life.

This is only relevant to people who bought into the kickstarter and early access (like myself).

Anyone who is browsing the Steam Store right now and has never heard of Wolcen, shouldn't really be dissuaded from buying the game based on the alpha/beta to release changes, but rather based on the game as is in 2021.

There are still a fair deal of criticisms left to give this game, which help new potential players a lot better in making a choice, as opposed to clouding judgement by bringing up pre-release things that new players know nothing about to begin with.
Don't get me wrong though, I'm also still somewhat salty they went this way, but to reiterate, that shouldn't matter for new players because they didn't buy into the alpha and beta.

LOL, patches and content don't change the fact that this is not the game I paid for, this is not the game they promised.

The best part about Wolcen/Umbra, is that the developers scrapped down and rebuilt the game at least two times during EA.

Also friendly reminder that Umbra was announced 10 years ago... that's right, folks! It took them 10 years to release this game, and they still managed to screw it!

For the price the game is very good, campaign was good and the voice acting, story and overall quality lives up to a triple A game.

But for someone who bought the game in early it's not worth the price. The difference from the videos to the actual game is that the gameplay becomes boring and more or less the same after you get your skills leveled up and good gear.

The balancing still have problems and even the most hardcore fans will admit that they are bored of fighting the same waves of enemies with no challenge.

This game is doomed no mather what happens because people will always complain about what they want.
People complained the game has unbalanced builds, they nerfed them and people were angry.
People wanted seasons....now people hate seasons
People wanted more campaign content, they said they dont like the new dragon campaign.
People wanted online/offline...and now they hate it
People wanted almost infinite endgame, it's boring it exists

This is probably one of the most worked on games in history and it will need 1-2 years to become what people belived it would be but it's going in the right direction.

This game is probably one of the best rpg in the last years because 90% of the recent games are bad.
For someone who likes rpg and finds this game on steam(maybe at a sale) they will love it
Btw, try the diablo 2 alpha and come back to tell us how it is:D

Such a great comeback, Neyreyan. You were missed, though i still miss Froggie's regular posts, as well as Alexion's baits. Enjoyed the read nonetheless.

I bought this game in EA with thoughts "oh hey.. it's an EA, they will fix stuff" and here we are. It lost it's price-to-value exactly when they called this a "finished product".
"People wanted" vs "Hated when they got what they want".. it can be true, yes, but ffs, what Bloodtrail gave us except forcing us for another painful sluggish leveling up? It is not about a bad idea but about bad execution of an idea and it is what generally Wolcen is about - good ideas being badly executed.
I won't comment on "best rpg".. it's just hilarious

People who don't know how seasons how in other games like this don't like that you have to make a new character to experience it. However, the current season is boring as hell, you just have to follow the trail, pick some boring traits and then hope that it doesn't bug out and allow you to kill the weak monster that spawns at the end and get crap loot... yay.

The Dragon campaign is short as hell, it's not even half an act. It wouldn't be so bad if we had the 5 acts already, but the developers are focusing in mini acts for the seasons instead of finishing the story that was supposed to come out last year.

People don't hate offline or online, I don't know why you're making this up. People hate that they're randomnly losing progress in both, and people hate how online doesn't feel as fluid as offline and it sucks how often you get disconnected during a expedition and lose all of your progress.

The endgame is boring as hell because there's nothing interesting about it. There aren't hundreds of unique items with interesting stats and abilities to hunt for and toy with different builds, instead we have a lame selection of uniques that very often are weaker than legendaries, and legendaries aren't interesting at all, they just can have better stats than rares.

Unless they really change the endgame completely, this game will continue to be the least played ARPG released recently. Last Epoch is in Early Access and kicking Wolcen's ass, hell, even o.g. Diablo 2 LoD has more players than Wolcen, this isn't even counting the modded D2 communities.
