If you are honeslty looking for a more modern version of diablo 2 besides path of exile, either grim dawn or my new favorite is last epoch which is an amazing game. It has a super great dev team and the game is constantly being updated as it's still in development. Even in the middle of development it has a fully functional pretty long campagin as it is with more being added in a few weeks maybe even next week and basically a rift system. I highly suggest looking into last epoch if you're unsure about wolcen. Path of exile you can try at anytime though as it's free.
So far I'm having tons of fun with Wolcen. Honestly, it feels a lot like what Diablo 3 SHOULD HAVE BEEN, bugs aside. Which , as others have pointed out, will be ironed out as things go forward.
Did you ever tried Path of Diablo, if you love D2 you should definitely try it out, i play it for years now, and its what Bliizz should have done with the game, it has lots of Qualitiy of life improvements, its so good it will blow your midn, it has wide screen resolution and with the glide program it even looks better.
The mod is very easy to handle, again path of Diablo will blow your mind if you liked D2.
Diablo 2 is still the best ARPG out there.
Grim Dawn has some intelligent things it brings to the table that help make a lot of builds viable such as reputation vendors and components.
PoE has a cool dark concept that got ruined by a greedy Chinese owned New Zealander.
D3 is just flat out boring. D4 is probably going to be a huge mess given how bad Blizzard been doing lately.
So ya, nobody seems to have gotten the memo of "we really just want a Diablo 2 remastered with a few extra goodies and longer gameplay". Dunno why its so hard to copy and paste a game from 1998. :\
Because it's not as easy as copy as pasting a game from 1998, if it was any company would do it to maximize their profits for the least amount of work. The ways games are made today alone is drastically different than it was previously. All you need to do is go to the interviews david brevik has about how difficult and in some cases almost impossible for blizzard to remaster d2.
35 euro Is nothing :)
Not a fan of Mods. Probably why I don't like Path of Exile, as it feels like an expanded D2 mod.
I can't quite put my finger on why. Feels like a tryhard to me, where it's technically "so much better", but overlooked the original. Like trying to make a better steak by tossing an entire cow onto a fire pit.
3 is a giant puddle. 2 is a deep lake.
3 has fluid combat, but ultimately, you'll just be finding the exact same gear with progressively harder and harder rifts.
2 has greater depth. Nearly every item type / rarity has the potential to be effective. You may find the perfect item early on, or you may never find it. You'll probably find an excellent item to make yet another character and build. One day you might be running Countess in Act 1 for runes, the next might be hitting up the Travincal Council in act 3.
3 is a game about DPS and killing faster.
2 is a game about loot grinding and character builds.
