The above (where your screen is frozen but you can still hear players communicate) is most often not a crash but a long stutter. If you let the game run for 30 seconds to a minute you should be allowed to continue playing.

- not sure if that was the reason for the hang, or because of me signing out.
I couldn't alt tab, task manager wouldn't come on top, the only way for me to exit the game was to sign out of Windows.
Ctrl - alt - delete - sign out usually works for me, sometimes you can cancel the sign out in time to not actually sign out also
Chapels, you can 'sign out' with ctrl alt delete instead of restart
