“It means that the history of this heroic struggle will be written by the enemy; that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers; will learn from Northern school books their version of the War, will be impressed by all influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors, our maimed veterans as fit objects for their derision.”
-Major General Patrick Cleburne, C.S.A. Jan. 2, 1864

This is the reson books from the non pc winners side, needs to be heard or else the dumb are ed astray.

The first step in liquidating a people is to erase its memory. Destroy its books, its history. Then have somebody write new books, manufacture a new culture, invent a new history"

CSA sources are kinda like german generals accounts from the eastern front, were the winner writes the history and looser revises it. There are some position among this southern "historians" that are blantant lies. For example the idea that slavery was not a key issue leading to the war, and no offence but this kind revisionism conincides suspiciosly with the reseurgence of racist ideas at the end of nineteenth century into the beginning of the 20th.

This does not devalue the courage and sacrifices of the individual soldier.

spoken from one who has never read the southern perspective and is just spitting out what his pc betters have told him to say. But if you truley belive so come show it on the thread that deals with the causes of southern secession. I look forward to your arguments and showing you history as it was, not filtedered down by pc "historians" whom you trust. .

Checking out some of the books providing "southern accounts", these books don't even provide southern accounts of the war. They defend slavery, slander Lincon and ♥♥♥♥ on the federal goverment.

The avarage soldier barely understood under lying legal issues, owned no slaves and was him self economically disenfranchised by the plantation system. He fought because he felt honor bound to do so, or just simply because he had no other choice.

I recommend The Burning of Osceola, Missouri, 1861
It gives a good perspective as to why Missourians would join the Confederacy, that being various Union war crimes and borderline genocidal policies.
A quote from General Lyon, the pro-Jayhawker Union General given reign over Missouri,
“Rather than concede to the state of Missouri….the right to dictate to my government in any matter however unimportant, I would see you, and you, and you, and you, and you, and every man, woman, and child in the state dead and buried. This means war."

You imply these things are incorrect. Lincoln was a tyrant and the federal government his tyranny.

lets face the facts in simple words here slavery is bad and without the increased power of the federal gov. america would be like the middle east. the heritage and brotherhood of the south are traits that need to continue but nothing more

the balance we have now prevents libtards in cali and other radical left or right states from instating stupid laws that would have been shut down on a federal level as for the south this would be discrimination laws and in the north this would be letting male creeps use womens bathrooms
