Your time zone may vary -
over time, WoR has only grown..

within recent days we've also had some Internet issues from Steam - so that is also possible..

..may examine a few of my screenshots displaying filled servers.
The discussions here are pretty much active...

As is the gameplay itself. For more details see here:

''playing''?!
IT'S WAR, SON!
Place your knapsack on your back.
Your Rifle on your shoulder.
March away to the firing line!

I think the biggest question is whether the genre appeals to you. It is 19th Century warfare and most of the time we are using muzzle loading muskets or rifled muskets. You have to load your own musket, put on your own bayonet, it takes a while to reload, and sometimes we are firing at enemies so far away you can't even see them and you are just firing at smoke. You can get into line, just get your musket loaded, and then get blown to pieces by an artillery shell before you even get a shot off. WOR rewards staying in formation as part of a company and following orders and there are disincentives to running around on your own. Sometimes you can get kicked off a server if you kill too many of your team members or exhibit troll-like behavior. There are no individual kill counts or stats. You don't control any BOTS. You may never ride a horse. You can't kill people if you're a flag bearer or musician.

Think about all that.

Then... if you are still interested in a game that has some really incredible detail and historical accuracy for the American Civil War - Maryland Campaign period and you are willing to put your team ahead trying to be a 1-Man-Super-Rambo-Killing-Machine - WOR might be for you. You will get plenty of good playing time and can go for "pub" play or join a regiment for organized matches. Servers are not full 24/7, but there lots of opportunities to play if you like this sort of game. Many of us get a lot of enjoyment out of the game and there are different "sub-communities" within the WOR community based on time zones and on organized regiments ("clans"), if you choose to go with organized play.
I'm familiar with the muzzle loader stuff. Used to play Blackwake in it's early and prosperous days. Unfortunately that game died many years ago now. Was just concerned not many were playing, but sounds good. I'm in :D

We hit 345 on Smoke and Steel League and congrats to Corn Brigade for their win. It was an honor to fight them in an even match. Most fun I had in a loss in a while.

Also the Pub server was over 200 at the same time as 2 large private events
