IT was a mistake i wanted to write are instead of arent

I can't seem to recall the dev's responding to this question however it has been asked before and some of the responses made sense to me. The one standing out being you wouldn't travel with a loaded gun whether it be for worrying about accidental discharge or the corrupting of the gunpowder/shot etc.

Again don't know if this is the official stance but it makes sense to me

The only thing I can think of is that during an administrative movement, like a march. You normally do it with your weapons unloaded since no enemy contact is anticipated.

Next to the historical accuracy, it enhances teamwork as you are reloading in the main spawn and more people spawn in so you can move out in a group again.

It would cause problems of which load would be default for smoothbores. As much as it's a hassle, better to spawn unloaded.

I kinda like it. There's a "get your reloads and bayonets in" dogma that can be challenged. I think that's the key. When you spawn, you don't need to reload. Sometimes it's best to do bayonets only. I usually immediately sprint up to my line, only stopping to reload when I get a little winded and see where i'm headed. In short, I love the system because it gives variation to the tactics of what to do after you spawn in. There's little reason to reload until you're tired and close to the enemy imho. Many a battle has been lost by slow and unimaginative officers who tell guys to "get your reloads in" while sitting fresh in spawn, letting a quicker opponent act quicker. Coming in unloaded allows a variety of tactics, and as someone also mentioned, can allow for men to build up in spawn to regroup (if you want to play slow).

I think that's because they actually did that during the war I don't really know if that even was a thing back then but it is dumb because of CO'S AND NCO'S shouting reload and imedeatliy moving out right after

That's actually historically accurate. Black Powder and early smokeless powder formulations (used in brass cartridge ammunition) were extremely corrosive to the weapon. The salts in them pull water into the works, which of course cause rusting and pitting. Other chemicals in them also break down the finish on the metal which protects it from water damage and oxidation.

You still have to be vigilant with modern ammunition and firearms too. Hoppe's is a fine solution to use for any gun enthusiast or beginner and they usually sell kits to help, with instructions.

In any case, you wouldn't travel with a loaded weapon using old muzzle loaded rifles and muskets like that.

Though interesting enough, and what doesn't appear in this game (yet) is that early ball and cap weapons (the Officer's revolver does use this) and even bolt action and lever action rifles made appearances in this war.
