Welcome New Players!
Hello early access players and welcome to one of my absolute favorite games! As I post this, the game is coming up on 24 hours into early access and those of us who were pre-alpha subscribers are having a blast with the massive jump in numbers.

With new players comes new challenges however. Below, I would like to detail a few pieces of advice to help maximise your enjoyment of this game. Also, following these will help us old timers as well.

1. The Company Tool - Now, I know many of you are wary about joining up on any sort of 3rd party application or website for a steam game. I myself often never visit the forums or external site for other games that I play. The company tool however is a major exception. Most (Maybe all?) companies use it to track membership. This tool can be accessed on the War of Rights website. https://warofrights.com/CT#companyToolHeader

Go there, sign up, write a witty bio if you are really hardcore (I love reading well thought out bios). This is your first step in joining a company.

2. Join a Company! - See those links to the right of this post? The ones marked "USA Companies" and "CSA Companies." Yep, those ones. Take a peek inside. There are many of us on both sides who are eagerly searching for new recruits. In this game, numbers are a very important factor for most units. WoR is VERY teamwork oriented and your gameplay experience will be much improved while playing alongside teammates that are as trained and focused as you.

Alternatively, you can check out the War of Rights forums for recruitment. As I stated before, I have a bad habit of never visiting developers' websites, but WoR is an exception to this rule. While the community has its occasional salty individuals, the majority of them are some of the most dedicated and friendly players in any community today. Check out the recruitment forums here! CSA - https://www.warofrightsforum.com/forumdisplay.php?35-Companies and USA - https://www.warofrightsforum.com/forumdisplay.php?31-Companies

3. Get Discord - I can't speak for every company, but I think the majority of us use Discord as a secondary voice and chat service. I won't go into much detail here because practically every gamer on steam has discord at this point. If not though, you can download it here. https://discordapp.com/download

Ok, now on to a few very basic bits of advice for battlefield discipline. I won't go crazy because there are plenty of actual guides on this. Also, joining a company will help in this department immensely. Most companies do weekly drills and will help you learn the basics of the game as well as orders. That being said -

1. Teamwork, teamwork, teamwork - I can not stress enough how important teamwork is to the success of your side. Last night (first night as early access release) was great but also very hilarious for my company mates to watch. New players were sprinting solo across open fields and getting mowed down, charges ended with both sides teamkilling each other to until nobody remained, and chaos was everywhere.

You MUST stick with the main line or skirmish lines wherever they are. Not only will solo play ALWAYS result in you dying needlessly, but they cost your team many more tickets when you die. If you hit T, look on the bottom right. It will either say "In Formation," "Skirmishing," or "Out of Line." It should be your goal to never be out of line. Especially if you are a flag bearer. Again, joining a company will help with this problem.

2. Learn Basic Controls - Here are the most important ones in my opinion. T - shows names of anyone near to you as well as your current walking speed, weapon, formation, and bayonet status. C - changes you from quicktime to double quick and back. Quicktime is basically walking/marching. Double Quick is exactly that - double speed, a light jog/march. Shift of course is sprint but will cause you to be winded quickly, especially if you are in melee mode.

Speaking of melee - B is your bayonet button. If you have a rifle, you can fix bayonet by pressing B. If you hit the aformentioned T button, you will see a (B) next to your rifle's model if your bayonet is equipped. To enter melee mode, hit V. If a bayonet is not equipped, your soldier will use his rifle as a club. It is slightly less effective than a bayonet but is good in a pinch. If the bayonet is on, he will lower his gun similar to a spear. Then, just left click to stab the poor fool who dares oppose you.

3. Don't be a troll - Others have said it before but I will say it again: This is NOT holdfast. If you want memes, you play holdfast. If you want legit reinactment (aside from actual reinacting which is awesome), play War of Rights. Playing annoying music over voice, hitler speeches, and other disruptive sounds will simply get you muted by other players.

Speaking of hitler speeches (he doesn't deserve a capital letter in his name), shouting racist slogans or chats will quickly get you muted. You aren't funny. You aren't cute. You aren't "reinacting" in any way that anyone cares to see. You are just an A-hole and will find yourself swiftly silenced.

There are SOOO many more things I could cover, but people have short attention spans. If you need help with any part of the game, reach out to the community here or on the official forums. They are a fantastic bunch of individuals. Godspeed and good luck out there on the battlefield, soldier!

Does the in game voice chat not work well? How do you keep track of commands if people are using different voice systems? Not to mention text chat.
