Before releasing a new build of the game, we will push it to a "staging" branch for testing first. Sometimes when bugfixing specific issues, we may ask some of you to switch to the "staging" branch to help us verify if a fix is working as expected.
To switch to the "staging" branch:
1. In the Steam Client, in the Library list, right click on "Project Highrise", and select "Properties"
2. In the dialog, navigate over to the "Betas" tab
3. In the "Select a beta" drop-down, select "staging - Next upcoming build (may be unstable)"
4. You should see the client download the latest version from the branch, and the game name in Library should switch to "Project Highrise [staging]". If this doesn't happen, exit the Steam Client and restart it, to force it to update
Please be aware that this branch can be unstable and/or buggy. It's best if you switch back to release mode to actually play the game, instead of staying in the staging branch. :)
To switch back to the release version of the game, follow the same steps as above only select the "NONE" branch instead of "staging".
