Bug Reports FAQ
What is this?

Please use this subforum to report bugs or other problems you run into with the game. This will make it easier to track them, separately from general discussions. :)

When posting about a bug, please include a little bit of context - what were you doing in the game when it happened, and what exactly was the problem. Also, please take a look in the game logs, and copy/paste any errors you see at the end of the log.

Where do I find the logs?

Player logs can be located at:

Windows: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\SomaSim\Project Highrise\output_log.txt OR (install directory)\Game_Data\output_log.txt Mac OS X: ~/Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log Linux: ~/.config/unity3d/SomaSim/Project Highrise/Player.log

Steam's default game install directory on Windows should be something like:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Project Highrise

Where do I find save files?

Save files live at:

Windows: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\SomaSim\Project Highrise\saves Mac OS X: ~/Library/Application Support/unity.SomaSim.Project Highrise/saves Linux: ~/.config/unity3d/SomaSim/Project Highrise/saves

EDIT: Where do I find resolution settings?

Unity keeps them in their own special place, not in our game setting files. :)

Windows: in the registry at HKCU\Software\SomaSim\Project Highrise Mac OS X: ~/Library/Preferences/unity.SomaSim.Project Highrise.plist Linux: ~/.config/unity3d/SomaSim/Project Highrise/ ?

How to switch to the staging branch

Before releasing a new build of the game, we will push it to a "staging" branch for testing first. Sometimes when bugfixing specific issues, we may ask some of you to switch to the "staging" branch to help us verify if a fix is working as expected.

To switch to the "staging" branch:
1. In the Steam Client, in the Library list, right click on "Project Highrise", and select "Properties"
2. In the dialog, navigate over to the "Betas" tab
3. In the "Select a beta" drop-down, select "staging - Next upcoming build (may be unstable)"
4. You should see the client download the latest version from the branch, and the game name in Library should switch to "Project Highrise [staging]". If this doesn't happen, exit the Steam Client and restart it, to force it to update

Please be aware that this branch can be unstable and/or buggy. It's best if you switch back to release mode to actually play the game, instead of staying in the staging branch. :)

To switch back to the release version of the game, follow the same steps as above only select the "NONE" branch instead of "staging".
