Building Information / Max Height Limitations
Just curious as to what others think, but my maximum height is 80 floors, which includes ground 0 to floor 79. Now although this is high, it's disappointing. I would have thought either 100 floors or more easily.

Now I've heard the developers put this game time around the 1960s, but buildings could reach this height, The Empire State Building completed in 1931 has 102 Floors. But even if we are keeping it somewhat realistic, that number should be achievable.

However in a game, I don't think it is necessary to keep things so realistic, I'd love to build things even higher. Right now the world's tallest tower has 163 floors, and the Jeddah Tower which will completed in 2020 will have 167 Floors.

So I find it's 80 floor limit a little disappointing, especially in a game about tower/skyscraper design, the sky should literally be the limit, along with the imagination.

Now obviously though the daily clock passes, the year never changes or at least there does not seem to be any indication I can find that it does.

Maybe in the future the developers could add this so over time you could build larger towers as technology would advance. So that by the time your in game clock reached 2020, maybe you could build to 167 Floors and beyond? I don't know, just a fun suggestion. Just thinking of expansions or DLC that could add more functionality to an already awesome game.

We hear you about the desire for a "boundless" mode where you can go as big as you want. But there's one problem along these lines:

jsauce lähetti viestin:
So figure out what the maximum either my computer can handle or the engine itself can handle, and give me just a little bit less. That's the spirit of sandbox mode.

... the issue is that what the computer can handle will differ *vastly* for different people, between those with new gaming rigs, to those playing on old laptops with integrated video. The game doesn't have the ability to figure out what the right max is, based on what it can know about the player's machine.

So basically, the current "extra large" mode is something we feel the vast majority of players can handle okay.

But - we're totally open to maybe making some kind of a "really freakin' huge" mode, 1000 stories tall or something like that, where your only limits are your CPU and GPU. :) Does that sound like something you'd all like to see?

Of course we're not going to be responsible for any melted hardware ;)
I might be in the minority here and I certainly don't represent everyone, but I'd say don't stress it. If you have a bucket list, have it be near the bottom, below creating a new game and earning new revenue. I wouldn't like seeing you waste time beyond the profability cycle of Highrise. You's good peeps and I want more of your products.

Besides, I like being boxed in a bit. I'm weird that way.

Other than that, I can see others having that desire along with a hundred others.

LOL you guys are great. Seriously. I am one of those people with a really fast rig, newest processor, video card, etc. And I love the idea. However, as much as I love the idea I'd be happier with just a mode where its less restrictive.

So have the modes where you have a Narrow block, and have a mode where you can build wide, but with that have a mode that allows both. So for me I guess that was my disappointment, because I chose Extra Large thinking it was just the best option for building very wide, and also very tall.

I mean I imagine my machine could handle 1000 floors fairly easy, but obviously not everyone could. But giving us a mode that allows us as wide as the very large is right now and 200 floors high shouldn't be a problem, if it is, 120 or 150 floors.

And if you still want to add crazy sandbox mode later, I think you should. Having more options as opposed to having less is always better.

Nobody should ever think, "Yes sir. Give me less freedom, I want to be handcuffed and gagged if at all possible?"

But seriously, you guys are really great, well you've sold me on whatever you guys are doing next, DLC, expansion whatever, SOLD.

I don't think it's weird. I think everyone likes different things. And I think we should all have a mode that fits us. Obviously they can't make hundreds of different modes, but adding an additional one with the least restriction would fit good with the ones they already have.

So your vote is for an extra tall but super wide start... I think we accommodate that.

We can work on melting your hardware later. :)

I'm not sure if I agree with that. :P Such a lack of imagin...

Oh, yeah, the game, right.
