Initial map sizes
Hi there.

I don't know if this has already been mentioned somewhere - I couldn't find anything in the forum - but does anyone else think the "extra large" map should be bigger?

The maps measure up like this:

Standard
70 Wide / 60 Tall / 10 Deep

Narrow
32 Wide / 80 Tall / 10 Deep

Wide
150 Wide / 17 Tall / 10 Deep

Extra Large
180 Wide / 39 Tall / 20 Deep

Yes, arguably the extra large map is by far the widest available, and yes the basement can be twice as deep. But personally I would have liked to see the maximum height at least as high as the "Narrow" map, approaching 100 floors above ground. The additional basement space is great, but don't the majority of things need to be above ground?

There is an Influence upgrade option (in the Politics line) to increase the building height beyond the starting parameters.

I had no idea extra-large was actually shorter than the standard map. You can increase it to 50 I think. But then the standard map can be increased even higher then I would assume.

I guess we were thinking of it in the way that a building developer would think of it - in terms of how much you're allowed to build on one lot.

The Extra Large map allows for about 2.5 as much stuff on the lot than the standard one.

I didn't know about that, thanks!

That's fair, I love how much detail and realism there is in the game. I guess I just thought that as the largest map, it would give the chance to really go ham and build something truly staggering. As wide as the plot is, 39 floors just doesn't feel all that tall when you have something like the Dubai tower with 163.

What about OP's comment about most things requring to be above ground? - which is true.

I did a metro station and an underground shopping mall / food + services and then well it's offices and appartments above with some services added in between.

I can't imagine filling the whole things up though. :) Is it even possible to have profitability in those 20 underground floors if it's a huge shopping mall?
