How do you put a balcony on an apartment? I've looked everywhere and I have not seen anything about it.

You probably have to unlock something. It is not called an apartment with a balcony or anything obvious, so trial and error until someone can come in here with the exact information.

I believe it's Penthouses. And they are required to be at a building's edge.
(Well technically they do, since the top tier penthouse can't build on top of its balcony.)

You can get apartments with balcony's that are not penthouses as well.

Okay I booted it up to take a look, and I was wrong in my first post. They are called one bedroom apartments wtih a balcony, and you can move in either 1 BR Apartment (right patio) or (left patio) as well as Luxury 1 BR Balcony Apartments (L and R). No idea how I unlocked them, but they are most of my living spaces in the game I booted up.

I suspect you need an interior decorator for the option to unlock. sorry I can't be more specific.

I booted up a new game and I have the option to build them right off the hop. Maybe you are talking about the pent houses? Regardless the game will tell you what you are lacking if you can't build it at this time, be it prestige or a media campaign or whatever.

I apologize for not getting to you both sooner. I appreciate both of your tips however, I am still unable to get the contract over. I do not see what you mean with both the buildings edge option with the penthouses or the apartments. Is there a video or walkthrough anyone knows of that could maybe work?

For apartments: start with apartment tools, then size/type, when you are ready to select which apartment (of a particular size/type) - might need to scroll to find the Left Balcony or Right Balcony on those that do offer a balcony option. Remember, 'The Good Side' wants the balcony on a particular side!

For unlocking: READ the mouse scroll-over tool-tip bubbles for "requirements" to see what you must have to unlock whatever; such as parking space or HVAC (a.k.a. Air Conditioning - minimum is THE level -1 PUMP).

Since I ended up looking this up once more, even this much later, figured I'd give a definitive answer:
Medium and Large Rooftop Penthouses are the ones with a patio option. You have to build them on the top floor of your building, but you can place multiple on one floor, and place flooring over them after placing them (although the PATIO part of LARGE penthouses is two floors tall, so they will cut off your building somewhat.
