To eliminate that as a possibility and verify that it is an actual issue that the devs need to fix, we'd need to go through a few steps to verify that it isn't actually working the way it's supposed to.
The most helpful thing you can do to get that ball rolling would be to start a brand new game on the new patch. Then take a screenshot of you trying to place a compressor on first basement floor of your new building before trying to build anything else, and show that it is being marked as invalid with the reasons displayed for why it can't be placed. We can narrow things down further from there. :)
Why aren't I believed? Do you think I'm kidding you guys? I have three games in my library and this is one. I did everything you just asked. I tried it in a saved game or didn't I write that clearly?
How may screenshots do we have to produce before someone believes what is happening? BTW my little notebook with this game on it does the same thing. So I am out of ideas to convince you guys.. Obviously Olde got pretty frustrated with being called a liar. Apparantly the game broke after the patch, which I tried to stop but you can't in Steam
Maybe the dev should take a look for him/herself instead of depending on me to provide the information. I just knw how to use a mouse and keybard.
"Not wanting to be rude but the game SPECIFICALLY says when you place one only valid above ground floor. You CAN'T put it in the basement."
This indicates there's some confusion. The vents have to be placed above ground, but the compressor must be built on the first basement floor. Also, the vents may not be placed at all until the compressor has been built. So before you can do anything else, you MUST build a compressor on the first basement level. You will not be able to place any others until you've done that.

No one is doubting you. But you have to understand the realities of what you're bringing up here. If this isn't simply user error, and an actual problem exists, then you're expecting the devs to magically be able to fix something that they can't identify or replicate on their own. The fact that no one else outside of the 2 of you can replicate it either, and neither of you have shown the specific screenshots that have been asked for which could help us narrow down the situation results in an extremely difficult spot for the devs. It's a needle in a haystack situation. They can't find the problem if they don't know where to look.

I'm asking for 1 screenshot. I'm not a member of the dev team, but I'm fairly confident that this one screenshot will go a long way to confirming the issue you're alluding to. To repeat, the screenshot I'm requesting is a brand new game on the current patch, where you pause it and have not done anything else. Haven't built units, haven't expanded the floor, nothing. Still the starting layout from a new game with your starting funds intact. And then go to place an air compressor on the first basement floor of your building, and take a screenshot showing it won't let you place it there with the tooltip explaining why. This will go a long way to verifying the issue you're bringing up and potentially help them identify the cause. It will be nearly impossible to do so without this very specific set of conditions.
"Maybe the dev should take a look for him/herself instead of depending on me to provide the information. I just knw how to use a mouse and keybard."
To repeat, devs are not miracle workers. And when a problem is isolated to a very small fragment of their user base, while 99.9% of their players do not share the issue, the most obvious cause of the issue is on those effected players ends. They need to be given the information necessary to help them narrow down the cause of the issue so it can be fixed. They will not be able to fix it if they can't find it. So yes, if you want the issue fixed, it is on you to provide the information they need to identify it.
So please, provide the requested screenshot so we can proceed with narrowing this issue down for you. We really are trying to help. :) Thank you.
Of 233,666 copies sold (only on Steam), only 2 users are reporting this.
So I suppose that the bug is not diffused and should be searched in specific pc config.
First you need to place main compresor unit.
Know what, now I see why my friend go angry. You treat us like little kids.
Please don't try to help me I'll wait for a Dev to respond one day
And I suggest you to play the tutorial.
No one is insulting you.
You are placing additional modules, not the main unit.
See linked video, please.
Sorry for not answering immediately, but we're on vacation this week and haven't been following as often as we usually do. :)
MPCakes, thank you for posting the screenshots! They were super useful in understanding what's going on. I think there's a big miscommunication here! And I think this is the root of the misunderstanding:

The intended order of operations is: the player first places a single compressor (which is the first of the three icons). The compressor can only go in the B1 level (basement floor # -1). This would look like this:

Then after that, they can start placing vents, which are the second and third button on the menu, and those can only go on the sides of the building, and on floors above ground level:

What I think has happened is that for some players, the UI reads as if all three HVAC elements are interchangeable (because in other utilities they are), while for HVAC the first one behaves very differently from the other two.
@MPCakes is this correct - does this help and are you able to place HVAC elements after this?
So here's another question: we've mentioned compressors and vents in the tutorial, and a bit in the mouseovers on the buttons in the UI, but clearly we're not doing a good enough job explaining the differences between them. Do you folks have any ideas for how we could communicate this better?
