Unvaried Control Types - Please add more, or give full customisation
In my full playthrough of Furi, I started the game using control "Type A", and ended up having to swap to control type B about mid way through. I made this swap because of the fact that you cannot both use the laser pistol, and be ready to parry on a whim, since you must move your thumb from the right stick to the B button. This, however, meant that dodge was no longer on the left bumper, and the left trigger is not well suited for an action that requires immediate reaction.
In my opinion, dodging and parrying require much better timing than slashing, and since you cannot both shoot and slash at the same time, having slash on the face buttons is acceptable, since then you can still reach dodge and parry. Furthermore, if parry is not on either bumper, then it becomes very hard to both charge a slash and parry to interrupt.

I wanted to find a control scheme that had parry and dodge both on the left and right bumper buttons respectively, so that I don't need to stop shooting/slashing to reach for either the parry or dodge buttons (or risk mistiming because of the trigger activation distance), but after looking through each of the three control types, I realised that they barely differentiate themselves from one another.

To illustrate this, I superimposed all of the three control types onto each other.[imgur.com]

If we actually look at the variety we have, we can see that the other two control schemes are only different from Type A in TWO ways each:
-Type C swaps the commands on buttons X and A
-Type B has parry and slash on LB and RB respectively

Please, either add full controller customisation to the game... or at the very least, make a control Type D that has both bumpers assigned to dodge and parry. [imgur.com]

Hi!
Thanks for the feedback. I saw your tweet as well ;-).
I'll add that to the todo list, but I have to double check it doesn't create some kind of exploit or regression. If we didn't do it when we added control schemes there was possibly a reason.
Thanks again for the very constructive feedback.

Thank you so very much for taking the time to respond! I'm terribly sorry if I came off as pushy, sending off both the forum post and tweet. I work with Unknown Worlds Entertainment, and they always appreciate heads up over twitter first (alhough, mind, I wanted to include this post in the tweet also, twitter has it's dreadful character limit) so that's why :)

I know that I can technically rebind my controls over steam big picture mode, but that system introduces a dreadful amount of input lag that would influence how the game handles normally.

Alternatively, if you must have dodge on the trigger because of any regression/exploit, you could add an option that makes the dash activate instead the moment you give ease on the trigger, instead of when it's fully depressed, that could make it more responsive.

I've been enjoying Furi thourougly, and fully intend to play through again on Furiest even if the change does not make it in :)

Thanks again, you lot are fab!

The controls was one of my biggest worries so I saw this on sale and came to the forums to see what's up with that. I definitely wanted a scheme like the new one and seeing this game being supported quite a while after release is a relief.

Bought it + The DLC. Thanks for the update!
