Games Like Furi?
Beat the game recently, and while I'm looking forward to doing it again, I'm also thinking it's not going to be this butt clenchingly insane forever. Does anyone have knowledge of similar games?

Some DMC boss fights can feel as intense as Furi and involve whittling down HP with guns as you dodge attacks then hit hard with melee.

God Hand, Super Punch Out (you can even play it online with emulators), Cuphead in a more recent, indie way. Killer is Dead.
Nier (the first one) is a RPG with a slow start but mixes bullet hell with beat em up. I discovered the game while we were finishing Furi, but I loved it. Preferred to Nier Automata by the way.
But God Hand and Super Punch Out are masterpieces ;-).

Thank you for the suggestions, I love seeing developers talking to the community! I tried cuphead recently and loved it also. Nier looks really interesting to me atm, and I love Super Punch Out.

As Natchave said, Nier is a great choice. Nier: Automata is also really good. Would recommend both.

y's origins and oath in felghana both have great bosses that include melee and bullet hell elements, difficutly scales by boss behavior and not damage sponges. origins was the first game I played really with this kind of philosophy.

The gameplay is very similar to Hyper Light Drifter, so I also recommend you give it a try. And you may like Jotun (more melee-oriented) or Enter the Gungeon (more gun / danmaku oriented). And ofc NieR: Automata (despite it being easier).

Similar
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
Shadow of The Colossus (PS4 and PS2 only, unless you use a PS2 emulator)
Cuphead
Jotun: Valhalla edition
Devil May Cry (series in general)
Touhou (6)

That's what I can think of off the top of my head.

How has Bayonetta not been mentioned here yet? It's fantastic.

Honestly it's hard to recommend a game JUST like Furi simply because of how it blends bullet hell plus hack and slash into one but without being deep at either one of them. The closest thing to that exact experience is probably Nier Automata/Nier. But really it depends on what you're willing to try out. For hack and slash, Devil May Cry, Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, Bayonetta etc are all good recommendations. I'm not too acquainted with the bullet hell genre but Nex Machina is pretty good imo. So yeah, basically what I'm saying is if you want something similar, look into the good hack and slash games and the good bullet hell games. There aren't many who blend it together. Although perhaps someone can recommend a few that are good?
