Alternately, you can try timing your dodges so that it's when the waves overlap with the trails.

Speaking of the scale, I wonder what's a good way to deal with the spinning projectiles in phase 4? They block bullets so it makes dealing damage to him difficult if you stay away, and it's kinda nice to keep hitting him so he dies before he clones, but staying on top of him without taking hits from them is hard.
Keep at it until you find something that works for you.
First off, in the bullet phase it's possible to block the lines that form across the arena. It's by no means necessary to do so, but it can help.
Now, the waves themselves: the key is that they can all be dodged diagonally. If you get near the center of the four squares you have available, it's possible to dodge through all of them while remaining in position. If you're worried about the angle, a little bit of charge on your dash will give you more distance.
Remember also that you have time to position after each wave, so don't panic. If you take a hit, try to focus on where the next wave is coming from rather than where the lines are. Waves do 2 damage while lines only do 1, so if you need to focus down on only one go for the waves.
